thank god, at last it's over.... this entire saga has been such a torturous mess from beginning to end.

Just take a "chill pill" brother, and lay back on the hospital gurney, a nurse will bring you a cold washcloth to put on your forehead! Man this whole think has made you "uptight" Bub,,,, better relax or it could put you in the same situation I was in 7 years ago.

On the operating table for triple bypass! so just relax, it will be OK!

Embarrassing for China really. Sure it won't be China's top plane but still. Sigh well at least now if Vietnam/India or any other potential adversaries buy it, China will know all about the plane already.
I am not here to gloat but just to let you know something.

A fuselage is easier to develop than an engine, there are multiple examples through history.

From the Me-262 which was designed relatively quickly in terms of aerodynamics but had terrible engines same is F-14 which flew with interim engines, to todays PAKFA which flies with an interim engine.

Any one in life has a learning process......... China is not exception, people here lie a lot to your selves, J-10 for example is based upon Lavi, Y-20 was based upon an Antonov design, Z-10 has Kamov roots, L-15 yakolev`s aid.

You like it or not all nations need to learn, need help, China is not exception, China still is behind in engine technology, has achieve almost parity in fuselage design, C-919 or J-20 start to show originality in design, well since JH-7 China showed originality, J-8II had some tech from the MiG-23, but that it is a learning process, all nations need to learn.

Pride is stupidity it leads to falsehood, humility is the first step of greatness, before China is great will need learn, it simply shows experience is hard to beat, and while China very likely will master engine design eventually, China is still not there.Something that China will learn from Russia will be Christianity, and that will be the greatness of Russia, why Russia will be great, will be thanks its faith

I think the point is that J-20 will not replace all Flankers, not today, not in the future. and Su-35 is a top of the line Flanker, with its long range and TVC.

Would you use J-20 to escort H-6K during peace time? Probably not.

You may want to actually *look* into where China's research on gas turbine technologies are before writing. They've had academic studies that spec out a 10 T:W capable engine design and different components needed to fulfill such capabilities that are a decade and a half old now (search DD9 single crystal superalloy). I'm doubtful they would get much looking at the 117s, especially with the WS-15 well into the testing process. If the deal included Type 30 engines I think there would be merit to the engine argument, but not where China is at with engines today.
