Chinese OS and software ecosystem

Too much fragmentation in OS ecosystem instead of making a unified front. Is Xiaomi planking to make all the apps themselves for their phones and electronic goods. Lol

HyperOS is still "android". Only Harmony Next is expected to decouple from android. I think its still built on top or linux or at least posix compatible but will be able run android apps in a container. The top 100 chinese apps are being herded to convert their apps. Also China has a few super-apps with mini-app eco system which will make the conversion easier.

Xiaomi should be pressed to compete harder overseas. Take foreign marketshare away from Dyson, Samsung, LG, Braun, Phillips, IQAir, RabbitAir, Roomba, etc. instead of duplicating other Chinese companies' software efforts such as Huawei's HarmonyOS. There is only so much real software talent in the world and it should be focused on a high-tier winner such as Huawei instead of a low to mid-tier maker of mostly simple electronic commodities. They should pay Huawei to use HarmonyOS in their products. Instead they are dumping their cash into India and being robbed for their treachery. Hanjian company.

Chinese companies should make an association to jointly develop an OS. It makes little sense for each company to have their own OS with incompatible applications, drivers, etc.
I don't think Xiaomi's domestic Chinese cellphone business will really survive for much longer anyways now that Huawei is back. Oppo, Vivo, RealMe, Xiaomi, Apple, etc. are all going to have their lunches eaten by Huawei in the Chinese market. So yeah, going for their own OS is just a waste of money. Just like their shit investments in India. They should all just pay Huawei for the privilege of using HarmonyOS.

Maybe a tiny preview of Huawei moving Harmony OS to be a desktop pc OS. This reviews shows that certain apps on Harmony OS tablet allows for desktop and mobile versions of the WPS productivity application. Typical tablet "desktop" mode still only provided you the mobile app experience.

As I said elsewhere, the real reason for the tech sanctions may well be to keep Apple, FB, Nvidia et al share prices high because all the US politicians own those stocks.
Sanction tanks tech stock price. Clearly this statement is made by someone who don't own those.

In the long run they do because competitors emerge but for several years Apple dominated the top end of the mobile phone market in China because HW were unable to compete.

Explain to me how is Nvidia going to earn their China money when products are banned in China? In the long term they get replaced. Apple is the only exception because they indirectly benefited from targeting Huawei, instead of "not allowed to sell to China". Apple is not direct sanction target.

In the long term these company is losing their market share to inferior Chinese competitors. The stock price goes down. Even today AMD is not back to pre-sanction price.

I think in the competitie environment of China you probably want compatible API and APP platform. So as a developer I can reuse 90~95% of the source code and tooling but only need to use or implement a small part of Huawei, xiaomi etc specific code, sdk or app signing process.

Xiaomi competed against full power Huawei in 2011-2019 and grew. They're making dumb mistakes of course but they'll grow or decline on their own merits.

Their problem is thinking that they're special because they didn't get sanctioned. They're not.
