Do we know if there are plans to further develop the CGT-40 (or CGT-40-equivalent) gas turbine engines for marine use?

Given the growingly power-hungry-ier demands expected on future surface combatants, successor classes to the 052D and 055 DDGs should be using gas turbine engines with similar power outputs and thermal efficiencies as the MT30 and LM6000, IMHO.

The CHD622V20BCRLJ high-speed diesel engine developed by Henan Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has obtained EU IIIB certification for low emissions. I know this is a high-speed diesel for locomotive use, but it could be adapted for use in high-speed boats, so I'm sharing it here.

An old image taken at the Beijing International Aerospace Exhibition (北京国际航空展). It gives an overview of the various gas turbines then under development. Note that WS-10 Taihang turbofan has three derivatives (QD400, QD185, and QD70). WP-14 turbojet has one derivative, which is the QD128.

QD400 seems like a new engine!?

40 MW for such an engine seems kind of over the top. I think Russia has the AL-41ST-25 gas turbine based on the AL-41F1 engine core. But it is only 25 MW. I would assume the engine is further boosted and has intercooling or something. These should be used for gas pumping or power generation using natural gas. Not marine propulsion. Although in theory you could make a marine engine with the same engine core.

R-R MT-30 has max rating at 40 MW. Do you mean that WS-10 core is not powerful enough?

RR MT-30 is based on RR Trent aviation engine. This is the engine used in the Boeing 777 with around 350 kN.
You basically need a C929 engine.

Well we've known that they would be pursuing a 40MW version of it from years ago even from the first post in this thread by weig.
