Dunno if this is the correct thread, if not, please move it as necessary

Rumour that the government has placed an order of 1 million drones from Poly Technologies. Don't know how reliable this site is though

China places massive order for kamikaze drones

Apparently a direct quote from a representative of Poly Technologies
Nah. This must be Samuel Paparo preparing his "drone hellscape" for PLA.

Poly is a defence contractor and China already have DJI, so these are probably loitering munitions / long range kamakazi drones...
And the fact that delivery is 2026, which is between 13 to 25 month from right now, means ~1300 to 2600 drones a day.
Does Taiwan even have 1300 anti air missiles?

Why are people even entertaining that random fake news, does the source have any credibility whatsoever?

Well it has slightly more credibility than anytime a western MSM claim some anonymous source in China told them XYZ.
At least these guys disclosed their source is a Poly rep.
Does it make it true, who knows, if we stick strictly to PLA official statements this entire site won't exist.

Storage space for a million shahed scale drones would be an issue and building a million of them within such a short timeframe could only mean China is planning for AR in the near future. Even if they could get costs down to $1k each that is still a $1 billion commitment.

If it's just for normal militarized/swarm FPVs, that would seem far more reasonable as they can be dumped in a warehouse somewhere without battery and munition for years and years until they are needed.

1 billion is a rounding error in military procurement in a war scenario.

If true, there's no way it's 1 million Shaheed type drones.
I reckon it's a bare minimum of $15K each ($15 Bn total) plus a very large number of warehouses.
Plus where are the launchers?

---

In comparison, 1 million FPV drones at $500-1000 each sounds reasonable.

Note how both Russia and Ukraine are producing 1+ Mn FPV drones per year.

It's not just the cost, it's the speed of acquisition. 1 million over 2 years is a lofty goal that wouldn't be required for shahed style drones unless they are imminently preparing for war. It will also be kept under high level of opsec as this would cause seismic shifts in US Pacific strategy.

While it's true that 1.000.000 drones in two years is ambitious, I do not think opsec plays a role in this. I do not think that a purchase of this scale could be hidden.
