By the way, this TB-001 appears to be carrying a TS-20 UAV on the inner pylon. TS-20 is a turbojet powered UAV developed by Tengden and was first unveiled at the last Zhuhai Air Show. It's capable of both being launched from the ground and from the air.

The smaller TS10 drone is also quite interesting. As explained in the video, this drone is powered by an electrical propeller engine with a max speed of 140-180km/h. It has three mission configurations - electro-optical sensor as shown above, mini SAR and a warhead for suicide strikes. At 1000m above ground, the mini SAR has a resolution up to 0.1m and max scan width of 1km. It can also track mobile phones and cellular base stations.

TS10 has a parachute for recycle and reuse. Its body and wings are made of composite materials for easy repair.

Is there any central guidance on the UAVs? It's like anyone who can make a drone will make a drone and try to sell it. I'm sure with some bit of central guidance etc, more efficiencies in design and procurement could come into play. Everything seems cluttered. It's like gold rush in wild wild west but in drones :D

The Tengden TW328-A Scorpion A (TB-A) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) is being improved for enhanced flight performance and to carry a larger weapons load.

The TW328-A is a larger version of the Tengden TB-001 Scorpion UCAV that is operational with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

So the three-engined one is now the TW-328A?1688622039488.png

The Janes article states the 'improved' TW328-A (a.k.a TB001A, TB-A) features seven hard points. This is simply wrong. It has at least eight hard points, as seen from last year's Zhuhai show (see images below). I suspect Janes reached this conclusion because it had not previously observed a TB001A with more than four occupied hard points, which is silly logic. In all probability, TB001A has always had at least eight hard points.

Before the advent of the worldwide web and the attendant rise of crowd-sourced PLA-watching, Janes was considered authoritative in large part due to the dearth of alternative sources to crosscheck its information. In the past decade or more, Janes has been proven to be a less than competent observer of the Chinese defense industry, and this latest article is yet another feather on its cap.

@Taiban, please double- or triple-check information from Janes before sharing it here, or simply avoid it altogether.
