Funny how you put genshin as an example because I see most people including myself see it as one of the few good Chinese dubs in video games. Though you are right though, Chinese entertainment's two biggest weakness right now is the story and voice acting but over the last 3 years I've seen it make long leaps into becoming better and that still seems to be continuing. I feel this problem mostly came to be because most of the talented voice actors and storytellers went into the movie scene or the TV area and video games / donghuas were only left with the scraps. This does seem to be changing though as gaming and donghuas has had a huge quality shift in China and we can see this throughout this thread. I personally see a great future for Chinese entertainment as a whole, most likely starting in 2025 we would see a huge renaissance. 2023-2024 would be the most important years as these two years will be the proving ground for all the major upcoming Chinese games and shows.Actually there is no problem with Chinese animation their 3D anime are really better than japanese Anime but main problem with Chinese anime /comic is that storytelling part are really weak , most of their stuff is copy past of some of the popular novel/ comic/anime. Scriptwriting part & voice over in anime is really weak part of Chinese studio. That's why even people play genshin impact in Japanese dub/ English dub but many doesn't like original Chinese voice over. I think Chinese voice actor speak too quickly & doesn't put much emotions in character which makes japanese really good in voice acting.
