it seems china has not sorted out the engine problem

I'm not an expert or a well informed fan, just read Aerospace Knowledge, a regarded military magazine in china, on issue oct 2010, the title of the editorial column is "how far are we from a chinese heart?", (in china fans tend to call engine the heart of a plane), the message of the editorial is: building state of art engine is big undertaking, it takes long time and big effort even for america, so "we must be determined, confident and patient"

When the "heart problem" is finally solved I am sure that we'll hear it first thing from the official news agency. Otherwise rumors of such developments should be treated, strictly, as rumors.

汶川地震后,2号舱将迁至绵阳航空发展试验研究基地建设。2号舱建成之后,加之业已建成的用于涡轴/涡桨发动机高空模拟试验的SB121高空台,以及与高空台配套的各类地面台、移动试车台和辅助设施,将形成高空台群。从而,可以模拟不同空气流量、高度和马赫数的飞行环境条件,能够满足我国今后数十年各型涡喷、涡扇、涡轴、涡桨发动机的高空模拟试验。

Not sure that was WS-10 or WS-10A. That's why I put it as WS-10(A). Do we have any more new pictures of the J-11s flying the WS-10A?

From what I've been hearing on Chinese military forums the WS-10A has been equipping the J-11Bs and the reliability is ok under normal training. However they are not yet suitable for high intensity trainings.

Wow the 5th and 6th pictures seem to show a whole load of new build J-11BSs'. I'm impressed if they are all using WS-10A; finally looks like things are going right.

It has to be WS10a The Russian is not going to supplied engine for J11 BS.

Another thing nobody know if this for training or could it be China's version of attack fighter like Su 30 MKK?. Just because it is double seater doesn't necessarily mean it has to be trainer

Oh the J-11BS will certainly not just be a trainer. Not with the amount of money the PLAAF must've invested.

It'll be a long range strike fighter like the MKK or F-15E, but it'll be capable of carrying the full range of Chinese PGM's -- a J-11BS with a load of KD-88/C series anti ship missiles, FT and LT series satellite and laser guided bombs out a few thousand kilometers will be a deadly force.

Do you know if they're just being cautious about it or have there actually been some issues with intensive training on WS-10A?
