looks like AES-100 is the main engine that got sold at Zhuhai air show. Looks like they have AEP100-A and AEP-100 turboprop engine. The latter is for W5000 and the former is for a different unmanned transport.

Excerpts from an academic paper (published this year) comparing performance parameters of AES100 turboshaft, AEP100 turboprop, and AEF100 turbofan with those of selected foreign counterparts. Of course, these engines are all derived from a common core. Interestingly, there is one more variant (derived from AES100) not yet unveiled: a gas turbine used in armored vehicles with an output of 900kW (table 9), and it was deemed to have comparable performance with its piston-driven counterparts (more on this below).

Excerpts from a 2022 paper on the aforementioned gas turbine for armored vehicles. Conversion and testing begin at the end of 2020. The paper also mentions R&D into a 2000kW gas turbine for armored vehicles (probably derived from WZ10 turboshaft), along with a hybrid drive outputting 250kW.

Not really news per se.

China is developing a 250kN high-bypass turbofan engine.

There's no doubt China is developing new large high-bypass ratio turbofans. But 250kN is weird in my humble opinion. Nowadays 4-engine commercial jets are fading away. Considering 2-engine models, 250kN is obviously too large for B737/A320 or even B757, but too small for B787/A330. This thrust is good for 150t-200t MTOW, i.e. some versions of B767/A310. But as you can see B767/A310 are also retring, and China has little demands of Trans-Altantic range flights.

If they are really developing a 250kN turbofan, I will prefer the possibilty they wanna join the game of C-5/An-124.

It is exactly in the thrust range a 4-engine 400-plus tonne military transport aircraft would use. And it is also too weak for a new widebody airliner. If this engine is real it would be the strongest evidence for me so far that China is indeed developing a super heavy transport.

if you read my old massages. i have already tell, Shenyang Aero Engine research institute is working on 25 tons High bypass turbofan Engine.
CJ-2000 is far away. and most probably this engine is strictly for commercial airliners.

China dodged the bullet. D-18T are some of the most inefficient high bypass turbofan engines. and that Motor SICH blockade from Ukrainian government forced China to pursue own development. and look at the results. best decision taken by the Ukrainian government.

WS-20 more advance variant 25 tons thrust engine currently under development .. 50,000 lbs thrust engine is more than enough for this project. equivalent to AN-124/C-5 engines.

2015 paper. just for the reference.

if this project get approval from authorities, by that time China will have own 50,000-60,000 lbs thrust engine. derived from WS-20. Shenyang working on two different projects based on WS-20..

i m not counting CJ series. they are on different path.
Shenyang also issued a tender on 14th November for certain type of testing equipment.
