It obviously comes from the organizers of the conference. Do you think some journalists wrote that?
there are so many articles like this. the interpretation can be different. if you attend any air show especially Engine both. you will find representative/marketing head stands there. they will never tell you the real progress. it happens all the time.

the main organizer of this conference is ''Hunan Power Machinery Research Institute'' alongside Hunan local society. i know them very well. all organizers have no connection with this AES-100/AEP-500 engines. actual manufacturers are different. so if any statement comes from AECC Sichuan then it will be official.

2028 certification date can be possible if testing/collecting data process stretch. let see

Seriously please. ''Hunan Power Machinery Research Institute'' aka Institute 608 is in charge of AEP500 development. Both AES100 and AEP500 are developed in Hunan. Does the name Zhuzhou 株洲 ring any bell?

damn.. i have done a big mistake here. sorry

completely confused with other models. like AECC Sichuan involved in many gas turbine programs and smaller turboprop/turboshaft engines.

actually AECC headquarter in Shunyi district, Beijing is the main hub of R&D. it carries strategic , cutting edge , decision implementation , application tech and basic research on turbofan in close cooperation with academy of science.

AECC Sichuan and AECC Chengdu are the major suppliers. this is where i get confused.

Interesting comparison of the new engine just recently seen on the Y-8C testbed vs. the KJ-600‘s engine!

Even more interesting however is, that they show detailed close ups of the KJ-600, which were so far not released.

I wonder which turboprop this is. Does anyone have access to the paper from which these illustrations were taken?

A paper that lays out China's civilian engine development strategy. It specifically mentions the AEP500 (5000 kW) being a priority for future medium transport aircraft and advanced regional passenger aircraft, note the latter is not the MA700, as the paper specifically states the MA700 uses a 4000kW turboprop.

Just to add on - The paper is co-authored by the chief designer of WZ-9, Academician Yin Zeyong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

In particular, this paragraph from the paper:

So to put it simply, the following aircrafts are to be powered by their respective engines:
C919 - CJ1000A/AEF1300 (13000 kgf)
C929 - CJ2000/AEF3500 (35000 kgf)
Turbofan-powered regional airliner - High B/P turbofan (7000 kgf) (I'm not exactly sure if this one refers to the ARJ21)
MA700 - (Likely) AEP400 (4000 kW)
Future turboprop regional airliner, future medium airlifter, etc - AEP500 (5000kW)
