WS-18 is also being used on the H-6K/J/N bombers by replacing the original D30-KP-2, IIRC.
But is it really? Similar what‘s the true status of the WS-18 on the Y-20A?

Aren't both the H-6 and Y-20 using D30 engines in the first place, before being substituted by WS-18? At least that's limited to what I came across. But is it really? Similar what‘s the true status of the WS-18 on the Y-20A?

2021, Zhuhai air show, Y-20 chief designer said.
Y-20 has already Chinese heart and in-fact we are testing two different types of Turbofan on Y-20 aircraft. process is smooth..
its obvious, he is talking about WS-18 and WS-20 ..
unfortunately nobody knows. i think WS-20 approaching ''enter in service'' status. so we might never get any information regarding WS-18 equipped with Y-20 entered in production..I remember this report but exactly the part „we are testing two different types“ leave the uncertainty on if they are still testing or if current production aircraft are already equipped with the WS-18?

that's good to hear. means Y-20 rolling off from the production line are powered by WS-18 engines..As per Yankeesama YY-20 already use WS-18. It is pretty much indistinguishable externally from D-30 though.
There are also Y-20s with “Ship of Theseus” style domestic engines. They started off being imported D-30s but gradually had all their parts replaced during maintenance.
But I suppose that the Y-20s that are rolling off the production lines right now are powered by WS-20 instead of WS-18?that's good to hear. means Y-20 rolling off from the production line are powered by WS-18 engines..
WS-20 about to enter in service.. so far mostly are with WS-18.. but you can say this. we have seen many units equipped with WS-20 engines too.But I suppose that the Y-20s that are rolling off the production lines right now are powered by WS-20 instead of WS-18?
