More than that. You have to account for spares. Usually it is 1 spare per every two aircraft.

Just equipting the J-11Bs and J-16s alone would have required some 1200 engines not including spares. Then there are the J-20As and J-10Cs and all the re-engining of the J-10S, early J-11s and J-15s. With spares, it would be near 2000 if not more.
I don't think we know exactly how far along Kede will be in 5 years but can say for a fact that the company is looking to 3x deliveries in the next 2-3 years. It is inconclusive whether they can rip/replace all of the foreign CNCs machine tools out, but it is a certainty that it is a priority for the domestic military industrial complex to do so.
Not sure they would need to rip out foreign tools though. Keep them until you can’t service them. If bans prevent them from being serviced swap them out then.

doesn't matter now.
PLAAF color livery means, service is imminent. engine is mature enough to enter in production.
This has greater long-term strategic significance than any other big ticket items in the PLA arsenal we have seen in recent years.
