Those would be static vanes, not compressor blades. If you look closely, you will see that they have no twist whatsoever.

My guess is that too many static vanes would obstruct the airflow. Isnt the function of static vanes to keep the axis shaft central in the turbine? So less is better? Less weight?

I remember seeing a FADEC displayed in one of the previous Zhuhais. It could be for this engine and others.

The WS-10 was probably the first engine that went to the J-10. But long spooling times and the AL-31FN's superior performance forced that shift to the Russian engine. Thus back to the drawing boards for WS-10A.

Sources all over the place are saying that China has released information about its new WS-18 engine which will be used to power the H-6K. The engine was copied from the Russian D-30K2 engine and passed its initial trial flight in 2007.

So, if these sources are right, then the H-6K bomber will not be powered by a WS-10 engine derivitive, which means if that chart is legit, then its very outdated.

Varients of the D-30 have been used to power Russian airliners and the Mig-31 as well as the Il-76 that China is purchasing from Russia.

True but the chart also shows many different engines being developed simultaneously for the same aircraft at once. It could be that a WS-10C was developed but simply was passed over for the the 'proven' WS-18/D-30K2 engine.

yeah, don't believe all of this stuff, everything about what you are mentioning here sounds fishy and the chart is non-legit.

Well the thing is we really have no idea where this chart is actually from so that made it pretty much instantly suspicious. Some of it could be real but I think a lot of these 'new' engines on the list we've never even heard of until now are very suspect.

according to Chinese source WS-10 has 7.5 T:W ration,and 2000 hr. MTBF,which is quite low.data indicate the engine resemble US TF technology of the early 70's.

I follow the engine development on Chinese bbs very tightly, as far as I'm concerned, the chart is just a fanboy's summary. And that these projects do exist, but the timeline is way off.

So which of these engine projects, in your opinion, are 'real' and which ones are fake?
