Any idea why the service life is so bad? It's half the life span of the which has a MTBO at 1000 hours with a full-life span of 3000 hours and supposedly Russians engines have lower durability than their Western counterparts. Or did the interviewee not include engine overhauls to the service life calculation?
Also I don't think regular maintenance mean an overhaul if its anything like what the USAF does with its engine. I'm guessing at 300 hours is and not an overhaul, assuming that the W-10A has a similar schedule with the .

The term used in the interview is "定期维护", which is a compound word composed of "定期" (scheduled) and "维护" (maintenance).
Upon some further research, the Mainland Chinese term for overhaul is "翻修", which again is a compound word, with "翻" meaning "turning something over" and "修" meaning "repair".
So yes, a Prima facie case can be made that "scheduled maintenance" was the intended meaning.

Stealthy engine regard ws15 could also very well be refering to exhaust temperature, meaning IR stealth, not radar stealth.
Anyhow, decent rumor. Too bad it wasn't a filmed interview so it can be regarded as 100% credible and used as source for various publications.

That Russia engines are overstocking the inventory was asserted by Engineer, Asssasinmace and others in past debates over the existence of working WS-10 engines. Now we have corroboration from the factory people. Until now, we have not a single picture of an engine from Zhuhai as if we have all but given up hope of anything substantive even as pictures of so many other weapons continue to stream in. And now, bang, this bombshell! It gives me a huge sigh of relief. If you are a non-belieber, it is not my problem anymore.
I feel that it can be regarded as credible because of the specific interviewer and interviewee. And I also think that said stealth feature simply means IR signature suppression machanism.
