Chinese Engine Development

I really don't understand Chinese engine failing obsession in this forum. Yes, there were delays and setbacks to the program but what complex military project doesn't? Especially the WS series being the first proper turbofan China has dealth with. Isn't most the J-11s and the J-16s using WS-10s?

Simple reason: it is the last glimmer of hope for people who wish Chinese fail with the development of these airplanes.

WHo knows! Ws20 could disappear like the Ws13
when it comes to jet engines, safe not to place the bet on China.

It's even worse to place your bet against them and underestimate their ability. Their program is strong and growing and know one can't dispute that.

Take the ARJ-21.

Haters had their day. I nearly crapped. Were they going to scrap the whole project? I was grateful for Iqbal's assurance.

Then it hit them

, "The ARJ21 has completed all necessary ground tests, and about 70% of flight-test modules, accumulating more than 2,400 flights and 4,600 flight hours." It is also targetting FAA certification. Didn't we see pics of it making global flight tests?

It can be difficult to handle the truth. It can happen to anyone.

This is a warning to AeroEngineer and anyone else, you cannot repeatedly launch personal attacks against someone in this forum just because you don't agree with his point of view. AeroEngineer is getting a one week suspension for this behaviour.

That's true, those who slammed ARJ21 have little understanding of the commercial aviation industry. They think it's something fancy like fashion. ARJ gives China the priceless experience of commercial aircraft development & getting FAA cert.
Something fancy like 787 gets all the press, but with failed promises of operational efficiency not to mention safety, sounds familiar ? orders have dried up, giving Boeing little chance of ever recouping its massive investments in it.
With China's low cost advantages, I give ARJ21 a better chance of making a profit than 787 which will likely never make a single cent without a major redesign.

Does China has engine development lead over Japan and Korea. I think Japan and Korea pretty much license produce US engine, they don't really have independent designs.

J10 development enable China quickly design J20 whereas Japan and Korea are laboring to get their stealth program off the ground because they have no real fighter design experiences.

Same with engine? WS10A cores leads to WS20.
