And what's about these two links ???:confused::confused:

--------------------

So either these AL-31FN-M3 are for the J-20 or even for the J-10B !!

Deino
Interim engines maybe, since the J-20 will probably be ready for production ahead of the ws-15's certification.

Agreed ... but I need to correct myself ! :(

I made the mistake to misunderstand / mix "AL-31FN Series 3" with "AL-31F-M3" ... so it seems as if they are only improved in their serviceability but otherwise they share about the same standard - not even to M1 - like all previous delivered ones ! As such simply for the J-10 !

Sorry for that,
Deino

Ah. I was hoping that that would resolve the question about whether the J-20's production would wait for the ws-15 or not. If it did it would either mean the ws-15 is farther along than it might seem or the J-20 will be later than we'be recently believed.

Well , the link says they increased maximum thrust by 1000 kgf ~ 9.8 kN and engine resource by 250 h

Тяга двигателя АЛ-31ФН серии 3 увеличена на 1000 кг/с, а ресурс возрос на 250 часов по сравнению со своей предыдущей версией.

Do you know Russian? (always wanted to learn but never got to it).

That boost in thrust makes them 130 kN class engines. Not sure that would be feasible for installation on the J-20 (but certainly for the J-10).

Very little .

I suspect it is some kind of AL-31F M1 derivative for J-10 . Nothing especially remarkable , as M1 is already in production and use .

Re: WS-20 engine spotted on IL-76 test bed

W15 runs into problem.

Overall, the engine issue not solved.

Unless Phoenix news has a source that we don't know about, I wouldn't put too much into this one. That said, it seems like the intro segment was cut off. Would be helpful to know what might've been said in that in terms of assessing their headline.

And Phoenix TV is a credible source since...?

We live in a time where people use WantChinaTimes for developments :p
