It's a good thing that there is a property slowdown.

10 years ago, most properties were sold to owner-occupiers who actually lived in the property.
But in recent years, it flipped to 86% being sold to investors, with many properties being left empty on the assumption that prices keep increasing.

So 2 things come out of this:
1. The construction industry needs to reduce in size. So the government deliberately deflating the market is a good thing.
2. This will also lower costs for construction materials, which will make existing property projects more profitable or reduce selling prices.

But an orderly deflating of property prices means keeping prices stable or a small decline.
Then the effect of increasing wages and inflation will make property much more affordable.
That could be in the region of 10% per year, which means in 7 years time, nominal wages have doubled whilst housing prices could still be the same.

That would bring the [house price to income ratio] from 17 to 8.5, which is comparable to the UK.
And given Chinese income levels, we could see nominal wages increase by 7% per year
That means nominal incomes double in the space of 10 years, and the [house price to income ratio] dropping to 4.25, which is below the US at 5.4. Theoretically, that means house prices in China could actually see further modest increases and still be affordable in 17 years time, but it wouldn't be prudent to expect or want to see property prices increase.

In comparison, when the Japanese stock and property bubble burst in 1991, Japan was already a developed country so wages only grew at <1% per year plus barely any inflation. Plus the Japanese property market was much more overvalued in comparison, so there was no alternative but for prices to come crashing down.

So in conclusion, I would say Chinese policymakers have done a far better job so far, in comparison to the housing bubbles seen in Japan (1991) and the USA (2008).
I don't even bother replying with a literate response since it'll just pass right through @Orthan GREAT ANTI-CHINA FIREWALL so it'll be useless anyway.

The man only seems to thrive on every piece of ANTI-CHINA garbage he can find and then hey guys look what I found isn't this great!! CHINA is about to collapse for the 100th time so finally I can sleep and go on my merry life in the west because I can't stand those Chinese Communist managing to make Communism great again!!

If what he says is correct then China may get the upper hand after all. AI development in the US is more focused on services while China's AI development is more focused on manufacturing.

You should read his books (A.I. Superpowers) I forgot the 2nd book that he (Kai-Fu Lee ) wrote. The man has had an illustrious career from working at Apple, Microsoft, Google and one of the pioneers in this field since his days as a scientist and now having been able to work in China and able to see the growth in front of his very eyes...This Taiwanese born American-Chinese dude knows his stuff.

Can strongly recommended his book on AI it also shows the competition inside of China which goes multiple levels harder then here in the west.

I heard Gordon Chang on a radio show claiming China was trying to get Pakistan to buy their FC-1 instead of Pakistan's own JF-17 when they're the exact same aircraft. I don't think people with inferiority-complexes can read a forum like this one. It's like famed economist Nouriel Roubini who predicted China's collapse because when he was in China, he took a ride on China's maglev from Shanghai to Hangzhou and says he was the only one on board meaning China is wasting money on things that no one in China can afford. Problem is there is no Shanghai-Hangzhou maglev route. Now Roubini probably was just reading the newspaper and read stories at that time where many so-called experts before him said China was headed for collapse because it was spending so much money on prestige projects that weren't making any money because the average Chinese couldn't afford it and also read about how China was thinking of extending the route from Shanghai to Hangzhou but never happened. He put the two together and drew a conclusion. That's how they think. They take what other "experts" say in the news and believe they've done the research and they draw their own conclusion. I've mentioned this story before because it's an example of how the West does research. There were stories after stories in the news that China was buying up French vineyards and that creating outrage among French vineyard owners. One wine journalist was going to write a story of his own but then decided he was going to go to France to get experience seeing it himself. What he found out was it wasn't happening and he only found one French vineyard owner who said he would be concerned if it was happening. So basically all those stories of Chinese buying up French vineyards was probably concluded by one journalist and other journalists read that and said the same thing. It's probably a safe way to write stories because if they turn out to be wrong and more importantly claim some libelous, they can blame it on the original source. Remember all those stories in the media about how China was buying the SU-35 after China built so many domestic fighters of their own because they all turned out to be inferior. That story originally came from Pinkov and the Western media loved it.

Pinkov used be somewhat fair on Chinese military development since he expected to profit from introducing photos and stats to a Western audience. Relations soured when Chinese defense/air shows no longer treated him like a guest of honor with all the free hotel accommodations and food.

While I understand your frustration with him, I think it's still worth debunking his misinformation with meaningful responses while we can.

He is hopelessly incapable of coming up with hit pieces of his own, so he has to repeat lies from the western MSM. Debunking him by exposing these lies therefore becomes a service to all the forum visitors who are willing to think critically.

And we can enjoy it as a clown show and critique his performance, too.
