I don't think any normal security features would be useful against a violent criminal. What's to stop them from forcing you to simply give them your password? Would you actually say "no I won't give you my password" when a gun is pointed at your head?

no of course not and I don't think it was design as such.. but if your phone is ever lost, these security features come in handy especially if the thief is not tech savvy .. also prevents cheating spouses from prying eyes I suppose... not that the spouse can't force her partner to unlock it with a gun lol

I'm a minimalist and more a utilitarian kinda person. a thumb print works just fine for me. it's practical.. it takes literally 1/8 a second to unlock since my hand would allready be on the phone anyway

FR requires more processing power, and requires me to grab my phone, then place it at face levelor look directly at it even for it to unlock.

If I'm driving or whatever else, I can unlock using my thumb and feel w/o ever looking at it.

i'm old school I guess.

I respect that!

I myself have a little obssession with high tech gizmos. Not that any of them might be useful. I'm just addicted to them, much like girls are obsessed with jewelry, I guess...

That's why I think it's just selling people on something new on the iPhone that doesn't really provide extra security. This discussion here alone tells you the problems. The whole twin thing is a lesser concern when facial cognition in some ways will make it easier for criminals. When people get this iPhone, they're probably going to find out you still need your password and facial recognition is only an extra superficial step.

Hmmm I cannot recall a response from you when a forum member posted an article about a lifelike robotic Chinese female sex doll. Plastic blow up dolls might become redundant now.

Uhhhh... this is one area where robotics are no fun at all.

Oh I don't know about that. Companionship without the burden of responsibility is a very attractive proposition for some. A lot of the old Sci-Fi authors dealt with such themes: Asimov, Silverberg, Piers Anthony, etc.

Of course, this assumes near-human AI and life-like behavior, and we are nowhere near there yet. Still, at the pace technology is progressing, I wouldn't be surprised if we see bona-fide androids in 50 years!

Was it a sex doll? I remember there was a lifelike robot demo, but I don't recall it having been advertised for that err role, or equipped with the relevant... faculties...
