It's times like this which demonstrate the value of democratic centralism over direct democracy. All the screeching ultranationalists have no clue what sensible policy looks like. Just like raising the retirement age, or squeezing the property bubble. Unpopular, yes. But necessary all the same.

A controlled channel for skilled immigrants is a great idea, and well-timed to coincide with the US talent exodus.
Yes i agree. I think the one party's authoritarian system is the best system for China. I have had some comments on chinese social media translated to me by some chinese friends when i was in China years ago. I was shocked by some comments on there. I think the CCP is doing a good job regulating internet in china and having a firm hand on her policy making decisions. A liberal democracy where the public have a major say in policy might be a bad thing for China ironically. The leaders have much more broader knowledge and experience with the world and China, so they havr a better grasps of where china is at the moment and what she needs to keep growing healthily. The decisjon should be left to them to make.

It's still in an early stage, so a lot of details are missing, and how it will be done in practice is up for debate.
I'm wondering if this would help, in a way, young mixed Chinese families to have 2 incomes. Normally, foreign spouses are not allowed to work, even though with kids and multiple years residency. So most have only one income, hence the foreign spouse would have YouTube, etc, presence to help support the family. It'd be really nice if this scheme indeed helps those families in a way, since they already have roots firmly settled in China. Or for those who are thinking about it, so they can plan for that scenario accordingly.

The way you guys are talking to each other reminds me of how some Americans talk to each other in their divided country. I don't have strong opinions, and I think the future is much less certain than people tend to believe. So I will shut up on this.
Calm down. China is not any different from most countries . Chinese are still human beings, forget people who seem to think their country or race is special/exceptional or even superior in this world(they are such people in every country on earth. Lol ). Human beings all display some similar traits/feelings which is normal. So nothing too surprising there. The only issue is that China is much more populous and bigger in size, and as a rising powet attention to them, coupled with the fact that China was a closed up country for decades so people didnt even get to know the countrh and what was really gling onntbere , so it created some form of ignorance and curiosity for some people outside China. But deep down we humans are all similar in some ways, the more you travel the more you notice this, obviously there are also differences some major between countries/continents.

This is such a trivial fraction of people that it's not worth thinking about. This is all much ado about nothing, the number of people outside the Chinese diaspora who speak Chinese is negligible, especially in comparison to the size of China's population. It doesn't rise to the level of rounding error.

The language barrier stands as high as the Tibetan Plateau. This is a visa for diasporoids who are just standard instead of turbo overachievers.
