Oh thanks, I didn't realize that. So they skipped this phase this time? If that's the case, I wonder if they did it to expedite the visa as a way to quickly suck up disgruntled tech workers in the US.
Yes, this policy revision differs from past ones in that it skipped the consultation draft stage.

Good for you.

I'm not even completely opposed to immigration but the sheer contempt you have for poor unemployed Chinese is intensely aggravating.
I'm probably more opposed to immigration than you are then, but this is not immigration. I have no contempt for poor unemployed people, except that they need to step out of the way when the government is trying to get something to work. America is pissing off a ton of its critical STEM talent. We need to pick the best that can benefit us while the oppertunity is there.

Chinese people who attack the CCP are intensely aggravating because they are doing exactly what China's enemy wants them to do. Never allow your enemies the pleasure of seeing you do what they want. Seize the US in fear from showing them that Chinese people rally around and support our government.
How does a country of 1.4 Billion people need to import "young" talent? These are not PhDs or experienced industry veterans. These are know nothing kids with a piece of paper with a university's name on it.
No, they are at least college grads with 3 years of work experience. That is what is necessary for them to qualify to be screened to see if they possess a unique skill that would benefit China. They could be PhDs and experienced industry vets. There is no automatic entry just because they are young bachelors. And these are not immigration papers; they are expected to work, transfer their skills and go home.
Before I had children, I was pro-choice and supported the 1 child policy. After I held my first child in my hands, I could not understand how anyone could abort a baby.
But policies are based off of a country's assessed needs, not of off personal emotions. I think it's horrible to abort a child and I wouldn't do it. The most touching and tragic story from the 1 child policy is the special forces soldier who went mad because they forced his wife to abort his second baby so he went on a rampage in Tiananmen before he was killed by a sniper. He was recorded reloading a pistol with one hand while firing another pistol with his other hand, which, I hear was a shock to Western intelligence to see his skill. But if the CCP did not brutally crack down on violations by forced abortion, then violations would avalanche in and the policy would be broken. We couldn't invest all those resources to feeding people; we needed to invest them into educating people.

If folks are done being stupid, the September PMI was released today. Manufacturing ticked up to 49.8 (still underwater), non-manufacturing ticked down to 50.0 (flat) and composite ticked up to 50.6 (positive). Overall basically a wash, but momentum is in the right direction at least.

The RatingDog (formerly Caixin) index came in stronger at 51.2. Reminder that it surveys smaller companies compared to the state numbers.

Brush up your knowledge on Indian history starting from Indus Valley (arguably the best civilization to be in for the common man in the ancient world).

—————-

in any case, I doubt people would line up to move to China in droves, especially STEM degree holders. Only a few adventerous people would think about moving. East Asia is just way too isolated from the rest of the world for peoole to move in droves.
Indus Valley civilisation is actually Pakistani, this is up there with Indians claiming Buddha/siddhartha gautam was Indian when he was Nepalese.

but regarding the topic of stem degrees at hand, I’d expect the Chinese government to safeguard this visa against Indian attempts to subvert it to mass import their own people, as the6 have done elsewhere.

Indus Valley is foundation for Indian civilization whether you like it or not. Pakistan is a product of a foreign religion and the most significsnt excavation sites are in Gujarat, India. If you want to talk about it, use another thread.

Even in Germany, where it is easy to stay after graduation, Indians don‘t tend to stay. What makes you think they would stay in China where salaries are much lower and xenophobia is through the roof? Not to mention East Asian culture ist just too alien and cringe for most young people except for Koreaboo, Otaku types. In addition to salaries, part of the reason why US is so successful at attracting immigrants is hollywood. Chinese movies snd culture are nowhere near as popular as hollywood.

Means nothing, what's considered good or high quality in the first place? Also, they said the exact same thing with foreigner admission in colleges.

It starts out with good intentions and then the quality deteriorates and you end up with a problem. This is exactly what happened with the West. They brought in high quality immigrants initially and over a few years the threshold was lowered and you ended up bringing in millions of low quality immigrants which has caused all the social unrest and political upheaval. All the nationalist parties in the West are rising precisely because of immigration. Even in Japan there is opposition to bringing cheap labour from India and Africa.
When foreigners are taking jobs while locals are unemployed you will see anger directed at the government. If youth unemployment was low and everything was great people won’t be as angry. Youth can’t get jobs, don’t have money to get married and have kids and you see foreigners taking jobs and having a good life in your own country. This will increase resentment of all foreigners. Global economy is struggling and immigration is the most politically charged topic in the world right now.

As someone who actually lives in China, I have to say Indians aren't even that bad here. Citizens of a certain "iron brother" are categorically worse.

you’re definitely an Indian, don’t worry Pakistanis wont steal your ugly Indian girlfriend.

My opinion is: Is it really necessary to worry that a large number of Indians will flood into China?Especially when the image of China is rendered by the threats of most people on government education and social platforms: a country with no freedom of speech and life, a tight and cruel social credit system, the most prosperous city Shanghai that can't catch up with Mumbai, and all the good things are whitewashed by the CPC. I don't doubt that many people will flinch.
