I took a look at those comments and honestly, they don't affect me at all. They're not based on reality, so why let the delusions of those commenters get to you? The greatest source of hatred (and delusion) in this world is jealousy. Not according to this Serpentza like comments on that article. Made the mistake of reading the comments of that article. It's not that am worried in a sense that I want those people to love China or heck even like China. It's just that these people are the types of folks that usually vote in the American or western elections which heavily skew and push the political animals in D.C. and elsewhere that are already deep in the anti-China hysteria for political posturing/theater and not actually committed on following through for obvious existential reasons.I took a look at those comments and honestly, they don't affect me at all. The commenters are probably middle-aged, blue-collar workers in the United States. They haven't done anything with their lives and are unlikely to accomplish anything of note before their deaths. They've been taught that they are superior to Chinese people simply because they are white, yet the reality of our world constantly clashes with their unearned sense of superiority. China, a nation composed of "inferior" Chinese people, is somehow surpassing the United States and that goes against everything they've been taught since birth. So what is the only thing that these pathetic people can do? Vent their frustration on online! I actually know a few of these people in real life (technicians at my university, for instance), so I have a pretty good idea of how their minds work. You don't need to worry about them. Their bodies are rapidly declining due to decades of eating toxic, processed American food. Their wives are obese and they don't get along with their liberal, TikTok-using children. The ability to post nonsense online and receive validation from other losers is probably the only thing keeping them from ending their lives.
Sorry for the long post. My point is, don't worry about those types of comments!
I fully understand your feelings. It can be frustrating to see idiocy on such a large scale, but at the end of the day you can only control your own thoughts. I wouldn't worry too much about things that are out of my control. A fact that Chinese people need to come to terms with is that China is rapidly becoming the greatest nation on this planet. From this position, the antics of western nations no longer make sense, but they don't need to make sense because China is no longer on the same level as these nations. The best course of action for China is to engage with the elites of western countries while ignoring their idiotic masses. Seriously, don't worry about their opinion of China's progress. I've lived among these people my entire life. Most of them aren't worth our time. It's not that am worried in a sense that I want those people to love China or heck even like China. I am saddened and frustrated that western understanding of China is very much distorted and stems from the mindset of fascist superiority being that west is best. Hence, every Chinese progress is seen as IP theft, copy cat, stealing etc. robbing the Chinese people any agency or any attributable success not to mention totally deligitimizing the CPC as nothing but mired in corruption, graft, incompetent and military symbolizes all those negative qualities.
The aforementioned supposed defects of China, the CPC/PLA and of the Chinese people are what animate the loud vocal minority and increasingly many people in the west to keep on pushing China's core redlines. The people's thinking ain't exactly that much any difference from the leaders they elected to represent them. Wether that country is Germany, Britain, Italy, India, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Chihuahua eastern European countries like Lithuania, Estonia etc...
As for supposed CPC faking of data I can only LOL and wish that countries could emulate the economic development, alleviation of poverty, real economic buying power and per capita income growth of its people that China has manage to achieve. The level of outright stupidity of such takes boggle my mind since many people in the west blindly assume such brain dead comment as insightful analysis.
Yahoo comments are usually 8chan tier, if not worse. Mask-off racism and bigotry is as common as dirt, and it's not rare to see actual calls for genocide. Also pretty common for such comments and repeat offenders to be pumped with likes as well, so take that as you will. The comments are an unmoderated mess that's best treated as metaphorical radioactive waste. Not according to this Serpentza like comments on that article. China primary strategy should make energy low cost as much as possible and keep improving logistics as automation comes.Article about why China dominate manufacturing. Basically comes down to the eco-system that China buildup over the past decades.

A inverted population pyramid if not corrected is an existential issue for a nation. Optimistically it'll never get to that, but Japan's experience with aging, which began long before China's or Korea's, isn't a particularly hopeful example (Japan's TFR has improved from the bottom, but it's still way below 2.1).I would argue with some adjustments to our economic system/incentives, plenty of professional level retirement age people with desk jobs could keep working on a reduced basis and contributing their expertise while enjoying the fruits of the life they have built but capitalism for the most part is to built to squeeze workers like lemons and discard them. Also, I wouldn't say that money spent on the elderly is wasteful just because they are not productive, we as individuals and society's choose to spend money on things that better our quality or life or overall welfare. Obviously there is a limited pool of resources, and we have to make choices as to what goes into productive investments vs QoL/welfare but certain welfare spending like say Healthcare has effects on people's wellbeing that go beyond a bottom line, and can even affect the bottom line. There are limits to what we can spend, and we need to make decisions based on the outcomes and overall society goals but to draw that we should only spend on productive people and not on the elderly in a peacetime society is going down some dark paths. We are not in some kind of existential crisis where we need to effectively ration resources.
First, Tasmania can do that because it's a tiny state of ~500,000 people. You can't get a proportional number of wealthy people who want to retire in China because 1) there aren't enough rich people in the world for that and 2) China isn't an island paradise. What you said of old people spending is not entirely true. Tasmania, a little state in Australia, has the highest proportion retired people. Older people from the mainland come here to retire, due to the clean ,safe, easy and relax life style. There are lots of natural marine reserves and national parks. Good fishing all around the island. Some live on pensions and many on superannuations ( compulsory government supported life saving schemes during their working life). As a result, real estate is still booming compared to other states, elderly care business are booming such as carers , private and public medical services and facilities. Travelling, camping, car rentals and hospitality are progressing along. Pharmacy, airbnb, and Supermarkets are making a killing. Tasmanian has the highest boat ownership per percentage of population, a lot owned by the elderly especially small recreational boats. Many, even though retired, still own one or more rental properties and other investments. The state has one of the most stable and sustainable economy within Australia even though Tasmania has very little manufacturing or mining industries. Tasmanian do have some fish farms and export agriculture products
All these older and retired people, rich and poor ,do make positive contributions to the economy.
Of course there are also downsides. This state will not be conductive to the young and the ambitious due to limited choices/prospects and relatively sparse population. Most young people will migrate to mainland Australia for better career opportunities and for a more hectic lifestyle . Many overseas migrants choose Tasmania (relatively easier visa conditions )as the stepping stone for the length of their compusary stay before dispersing into the mainland. Win some, lose some.
