Chinese Economics Thread

What we should be aware of, is that PMI is a survey.

They ask managers to give their opinion about what is coming next.

If a week long holiday in China, then obviously those managers are not stocking up. That survey number will go down.

That is the time the Western media will harp on that.

This is an observation I made for myself years ago.

Since the PMI is not that important, then the propaganda associated with that is even less important.

When the holidays are over, business back to usual, the China bad PMI numbers tend to go away, until the next Chinese holiday.

The pandemic economy is the exception.

My question was just a mild reminder: you don't know what you were talking about; your "intuitive" understanding and interpretation of PMI is not how it is compiled and used. You made up this "western media" stuff to attract some "likes."

You don't live here.

You still have no clue what you're talking about. Where is "here"? How do you know where I live? Why is that even relevant?

If you did, you would recognize that this is only a cheap tactic the politicians always use against the other party.

The politicians the press, are the most sneaky people around in North America. You can't trust them at all.

They would say all this crap, because they know their audience, ie us voters, do not really care, or not paying attention, or too misinformed to even know what the press and politicians are talking about.

It is not easy to describe how bad things really are, to those people who do not live here. It is like stupidity is contagious like covid, you know.

Look at this war in Europe. In the last two months, in a couple of newspapers in Toronto, every week there would be a FAQ type of article explaining things.

Like ... WTF?

Like, people who read newspapers, never heard of WW1, or WW2, or the Cold War, or NATO.

This is awful, but I am not surprised.

People more interested in smoking dope than to dabble in that ancient history, that all of the sudden has come alive.

Today riding the bicycle, I had my mask on. I was going fast, so I breathing hard. I did not know someone was smoking marijuana on the streets, and I almost inhaled. Usually I hold my breath. When the neighbours go outside into their backyard to smoke the dope, I close all the windows.

So when the politician or media levels an accusation against an opponent, it sticks, because no one cares for the real story.

People are too busy with the job, playing games, smoking dope. It is like classical notions of knowledge, that is not needed anymore.

I am not sure how this stupidity became so prominent.

After a while, we tend not to care anymore. No one else does.

:oops::D

I'll let the rest of your rants pass.

They probably have never heard of "义务教育", high school education is almost free by this point, the rate of high school entrance is currently 91.2%,it seems to me that, they mistake this article titled "63% of the children from rural village area had not one day of high school" with "60% of the Chinese never had one day of high school".

OH and FYI, this article is from 2017, it's way outdated in China's standard
Article is 2017 but data referenced is 2010.

U.S., Chinese regulators in talks for audit deal

I am not sure if this have been posted here.

This is a canary in a coal mine. If there is a concrete agreement out of this subject, that would likely be the beginning of the end of the trade war. The Biden admin is slowly coming to the sense that the trade war does not even make political sense any more. Let's see if there is any agreement on stock listing or import tariffs.

I would not hold my breath that the deal will last long if it was passed, they would just renegade on it or find loopholes around it to their benefit later on. Even if the current administration honors the deal, the next one could possibly just overturn it, but its still good news that a deal could still be settled by both sides.

What exactly are you talking about?

I don't use PMI. Never did, never will.

If you use it, then feel free bore us to death with those explanations!

:D
