you don't pivot to a completely new industry and expect it to happen overnight. This EV venture is either damage control bullshit from Evergrande or they actually have a long term plan which they
will need to invest hundreds of millions into.
The EV thing is BS. And whatever bank actually gave them money for this fraud should be fined and heavily punished.

Take anyone on the street, show him Evergrande's financial books and 100 times out of 100, he would kick you out for even suggesting to loan money to that company

Comparing the United States’
and China’s Leading Roles
in the Landscape of Science
CSET Data Brief

"Analyzing the scientific research publication landscape through
different levels of aggregation provides context for a more granular
analysis of the global competition in S&T. When visualizing this
competition with a conceptual map, one needs to be able to
understand the overall research terrain of the country before diving
down to the specific roads through each district and region. This
analysis presents the differences in global competition outcomes
when viewing research publication data on varying levels of
granularity.
When we compare country leaders from the research regions (the
most general level), we default to a bilateral view where China
leads and the United States follows closely behind. However, this
view neglects the research output from the rest of the world, which
we can clearly see in the research clusters (the most granular level).
Specifically, at the most aggregate level (25 research regions)
China leads 14 regions and the United States leads 11 regions. At
a more granular level (250 research districts) China leads 127
districts, the United States leads 122 districts, and India leads one
district."

Man, try as one might to avoid being taken out of context by any western media (worth their propaganda salt ) you'll still end up becoming the victim or getting played like a fool. No wonder there are a lot of people who doesn't want to be interviewed by any media (especially print/web media) unless it's in real time to avoid being caricatured.

It's more like a "throwing things at wall and see what sticks" thing.
Evergrande has already built big EV factories in Nansha and Shanghai. All they need is to start producing cars.

Sure they can hire a designer to make a mock up and they can build buildings. But what about the rest? Are they going to outsource construction to BYD or something? HSMC also got the building part right.

No. They need to start selling their cars like hotcakes.

When were these photos taken?

A few factory buildings under construction means nothing comparing to the machines and instruments they will have to buy to equip these factories. And they will need to hire thousands of engineers, managers and workers to install and tune these equipments. Then there are trial runs before they can make production runs.

At the same time, they will also need to build a marketing and sales force. Perhaps they can reuse some of the existing property marketing and sales departments.

Until all these are ready, anything can happen, including Evergrande just giving up these factories.

Selling a questionable vehicle into a highly saturated market? Good luck with that.
