Sorry, but annual emissions reduction targets should go. It is not rational to kill off the economy for "feel good" responses fr the World. Do you see the US or the EU shutting down production for climate change?

This is a trap set up for China. Unless I also see them shutting down production, this means that they (obviously) using climate change excuses to damage China

This can be opportunity for optimization exercise, global peak of energy is going to bite everyone in the butt but western nations especially the US will get hit just as hard if not more so....

Everytime I see those big texas trucks with ridiculously oversized wheels (and I'm not talking about 18 wheelers that haul stuff, just joe six pack showing off going to work in a 10mpg truck that takes up almost two parking spots) I realize The Great Reset hasn't yet resetted hard enough... at least here in our region traffic is already worse than pre-pandemic era

doesn't matter, foreign countries will be eating the increased costs in the end. this also provides market mechanisms to force additional purchases of non-fossil electricity and boosts funding for non-fossil electricity research and construction. It is short term pain for long term gain.

Easy fossil fuel and lax emission regulations is a crutch just like cheap credit was a crutch for uncompetitive and uninnovative companies like Evergrande. Just wait 5-10 years and see who is leading in energy and who is still clinging to their dreams of clean coal and gas cars.

China is not a place that lacks anything but motivation. Once a motive is given, it will be done.

The problem is this kind of arbitrary, abrupt administrative measures are terrible means to achieve the goals. Better to use market mechanism to signal and implement the policy goals in this case.
