A quote from the much bugger article
As a Cantonese, my observation is that most migrant workers who come to Guangzhou can only afford to live within those "villages within cities." While not as spacious as newly-built apartment complexes and malls, these "villages" offer very affordable housing and basic services (like supermarket, grocery shops with fresh meat) right next CBDs like Zhujiang New Town and Tianhe District. The only problems with these places are fire hazard and potential COVID/Biohazard, as 3-4 stories apartments within those "villages" were stacked so close to each other with little to no ventilation. Spring and Summer can be gross as the extreme humidity and moisture would cause trash dumps to be filled with maggots. Thus, these "villages" are definitely in need of renovation and sanitation improvement, as well as improving fire escape routes. However, demolishing them would remove the only residential option for migrant workers.

It's Europe's future growth prospects that are looking grim. Somehow the West's call for self-reliance following Trump and now Biden doesn't have the same prospects on their growth...? Maybe Europe should've ignored US calls for technology bans on China if they want China to abandon plans for self-reliance. But that genie is going to be hard to put back in that bottle since they didn't bother to think about it in the first place. That's the difference between China and countries they like because those countries would be dumb enough to fall for it.

@AssassinsMace Sir they need to grow a backbone first for the Chinese to take noticed. They're not neutral so why would the Chinese listen.

@Equation Sir see how Biden try to lessen the tension with the Chinese, they had taken what they wanted from TW (FAB 21) and SK (TYLER FAB in Texas) with 5nm and 3nm tech. they need a market for those Chips. They will have an agreement were by the Chinese will have the 7nm and above nodes while they will supply the cutting edge. Bypassing EU who will rely on older nodes competing with the Chinese, a win win only for the Chinese and the American....Lol that's only my perception so anybody can interject. TW and SK FABS is now an extension of America's, the EU need to create its owned from scratch (10nm -3nm chips). The US and China strategic competition is a farce, a matter of fact its a 3 way with EU being left behind.

In the chip fabbing world this is the only short term deal(next 5~7 years) that can be made if Samsung and TSMC don't want to get hit bad by losing the Chinese market.
