Apple is booming in China. Huawei cannot even sell cellphones in America and is now even losing marketshare on the home market. China for reasons that are not known has done nothing to hit back against the maiming of Huawei. All in all this has emboldened US hawks. Yeah, let American companies like Apple bloom in China while your own companies are not allowed to compete abroad and worse are even maimed. No, this is bad news.
What do you think about the new o/s they are implementing and future prospects of that?

Do you think Huawei cannot wait to get back into the good graces of those Americans and Google?

@Appix

Yup you're correct but there is an expression, win every battle but lose the war, this is were the Huawei situation is biding her time, conserving and collecting her strength, right now her cellphone business is being battered but her core competency remains. A year or two we may see a reversal, with a Harmony OS to go along with her new high end cell phone.

Hi ansy1968,

Yup, argee. That is how the cookie crumbles brother, as the white people say.

If Huawei cell phones lose some market share today is "bad," then what word will be used to describe the case when Android and O/S2 no longer has a worldwide monopoly, and what word will be used to describe the case when US tech is eradicated from the China market?

That is where we are going.

That is decoupling, there will be fallout.

Got to break a few eggs, and kick a few other politicians in the balls.

:p

I had become numb hearing all these hearsay about Huawei, they don't understand us Chinese "adversity breeds innovation". it's all about the necessity and the scarcity that propel people to innovate. And the American action inadvertently force China to become one.

Apple is booming in China.
That's not true. Apple is losing gradually its share in China to competitors like Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, etc... With Huawei's phone segment on standby, Xiaomi has taken most of the business. You are looking at an Apple Q4 rise and calling it a boom in the sense the climate change deniers say the winters are evidence against global warming just because they don't understand the difference between the seasonal changes in the weather and the climate.
Huawei cannot even sell cellphones in America and is now even losing marketshare on the home market. China for reasons that are not known has done nothing to hit back against the maiming of Huawei. All in all this has emboldened US hawks.
To be honest, I also think that Apple should be banned in China, but the CCP has decided against it and every time, it seems they know best so I'm not worried. And at the end of the day, Huawei is about spreading real world-changing telecom technology while Apple is just about assembling parts to make money. It's barely more dangerous than Starbucks or MacDonalds.
Yeah, let American companies like Apple bloom in China
Bloom or boom, it is not. Actually, even though Apple is sourcing more Chinese components like its screens from BOE, it still cannot compete with domestic options and is losing in the long run.
while your own companies are not allowed to compete abroad and worse are even maimed.
The reason that Huawei's phone sector could be targeted by the US despite it being the least important is because Huawei's phones were most vulnerable and designed with foreign tech. Previously, every phone sale for Huawei meant a sale for TSMC, Qualcomm, and ASML. After this, a sale for Huawei will be a sale for only China. This is a revamp that is worth the pain and worth the fight. It's not maiming an octopus to cut off one of its tentacles that is tumorous and malformed so that a new and better one can grow in its stead; this we call surgical ablation.
No, this is bad news.
For the short term.

Why do you say it's not true that Apple is booming in China? Apple was decreasing its market share in China to about the end of 2019. Now in 2020, it started booming. I think it is easy to say that it is because of Huawei's problems. Huawei is high-end the same as Apple. So people from Huawei will go mostly to Apple. The best would be to encourage Samsung to Chinese market again. Apple will be too strong if Huawei is going to decline next few years because of the lack of high-end chips for its phones because most of its sales will go to Apple. Samsung is also High-end.

Strong iPhone sales fueled a 57-percent surge in Apple's net sales in China for its fiscal 2021 first quarter ending on December 26, 2020, according to media reports.

Apple's surging sales in China have been primarily a result of Huawei's supply shortage, which left a large "gap market" for the iPhone maker, Xiang Ligang, director-general of the Beijing-based Information Consumption Alliance, told the Global Times on Thursday.

According to Xiang, Huawei started to face supply difficulties in mid-September last year, and the company is also taking steps to voluntarily limit production to plan for the future. As a result, Apple lost its biggest competitor in the mainland high-end mobile phone market.

Nah, Samsung makes their phones in Vietnam and is a direct competitor to Chinese Android phone makers. It’s better to support Apple than Samsung.

So what happened to China is a big bad place to do business. They lies, they cheat, and they stole! Lol.

So when there's money to be made, China is not so bad after all.

From the BBC.

Ford to start building electric Mustangs in China

Ford is to start building its iconic Mustang cars in China for the first time.

The US carmaker said its Mustang Mach-E will start being produced there later this year as it looks to tap into China's electric vehicle (EV) market.

Earlier this month, Tesla started delivering its Model Y to Chinese customers from its Shanghai factory.

Western brands are aggressively targeting China, where EV sales are expected to grow strongly.

Volkswagen said it would soon begin delivering vehicles produced at two newly-built Chinese factories dedicated to electric cars.

China is the world's biggest car market with more than 20m vehicles sold each year.

Rest of the article from trashy BBC.

you can't win every battle. Sometimes, you have to do a strategic retreat, conserve and multiply your energy and strength, and strike when the time is right

Samsung is like a 1/5th of Vietnam's economy lol. Also, at least for lower-tier smartphones, they're moving back to China-based production again since they simply can't compete:
