The problem for ScoMo is how to save his face if he backs down. He wants to save the economy, but is stuck in a corner.
IMO, ScoMo is kinda confused guy. Trying to portrait himself for what he really is not. Punishing the good guy who actually telling the truth, defending those who actually committed crime (OZ soldiers who uncovered the war crime). Even further, making law to defend act of war crime?
Wasting tax payer money to harbor propagandists to create fake news?
Destroying decades trade relationships where there was actually no problems at all before he is a PM. And that's not all yet.

And he is taking about Australia value? Doh! Beg the question is he really fit for the job?

From a trained academic and geopolitical risk analyst for 30 years. Analyzing China-OZ trade feud.

  • -... 2 in 5 foreign trade-related Jobs are dependent on trade with China (1,021,912 jobs approximately)...
  • -...He is conveniently distancing himself from any responsibility for the economic fall-out with China, despite making it clear that Australia will not trade its values to justify why his government will not back down on its position regarding the South China Sea, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Taiwan...
  • -It is rather a stretch for Morrison to claim the moral high ground with China when many of our other trading partners are not particularly the epitome of democracy, nor do they have spotless human rights records.
  • -The number of our trading partners that are worse than China in terms of Human Rights and Economic Freedom comprises 80 countries according to the conservative Heritage Foundation

. So, if we are trading with all those countries that are worse than China, then are we NOT trading our values with them?..

Hi Litebreeze,

You know what, I like the assertive China narrative, It forces them to think and reflect. The arrogance had been replace by anger, then fear and now a realization...hahaha :) :) :) . 2020 will be marked as the year China learned to reassert itself.

Hi Litebreeze,

Remember when Xi ascend the leadership everybody in the west assume that since he travel and live in the US, he will be amendable to western values and opinion. 2014 when Russia annex Crimea they expect China to join the west in condemnation. They're all disappointed, cause they underestimate President Xi and it's resolved. The Chinese dream is a manifestation of China intent, so why are the west so surprise by China being assertive. Do we not have the right to express our opinion and be heard or they had been accustom of us been silent and apolitical.

Xi had his baptism of fire, had come out victorious and confident. Aside from Putin of Russia , China had an effective leader to content with. While the west dither, it highlighted the ineffectiveness of it's system. That alone and China is so big not to notice signal the end of 'hide your power, bide your time':cool::cool:

Its kinda hard to hide your power when you're building multiple carrier fleets, carrier fleets are the purest form of power projectection.

Anyone remember what followed soon after Deng uttered 'hide your strength, bide your time'?
