Toll roads are a scam everywhere! Even hear in Houston when the Beltway 8 was built by a private company with tax payers money, the toll was suppose to pay for the cost for the construction in itself over the years. It's been more than 10 years and the toll fees keeps rising and there is no end to it. IT SHOULD be free by now!

Amen to that! We are already paying driver's registration each year for road maintenance and all... They are trying to turn 249 into a toll road as well. The heck with that! I take 249 and the Beltway to work everyday. I am already paying 5 buck each way as of now. Imagine what I have to pay if they made 249 a toll road. I will veto it every time it gets on a ballot. They should use the money planned for remodeling the Astro dome to build roads (I am glad that I voted against it ;)). If they can find money for a useless stadium, they should find money to build roads!

Tell you what. One way to truly scam the Houstonians is to make 288 a toll road. As it is the ONLY road between Pearland and Houston, people living in Pearland will have no choice but to pay... With that said, that would be a sure way to start a revolution :p

Uh... Pollution is bad in Houston, but not that bad. We get blue sky on a daily basis. Yes, we get some little fog sometimes, but that as often as you think. Compared to cities like LA and NY, Houston is as nice as a national park.

I think what is shown in that picture with the climber is actually the Chinese city of Shaoxing (please see Popeye's original post). Equation's comments about Houston combined with the picture of the guy climbing a building in Shaoxing can be misleading...
