TAIYUAN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Explosions that left one person dead and eight injured on Wednesday morning in north China's Shanxi Province were caused by self-made bombs, local police said.

The blasts struck at around 7:40 a.m. in front of the office building of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, on Yingze Street in the provincial capital of Taiyuan, according to the city's public security bureau.

Eight explosive sounds were heard. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was dispatched to the scene while no other explosive was discovered.

The presence of steel beads and circuit boards found scattered at the scene by an initial investigation indicate the incident was caused by self-made bombs, according to police.

Traffic at the site has been resumed, and further investigation into the case is under way.

The photos below show damage at the scene. Also fire fighter, police & EOD response to the area.

You can't just throw animals into an alien environment and tell them that "grow strong or die". Domestic cats are never mean to live in forest. They'll die soon of hunger.

Well, many domestic species that were never meant for living in the wild survive in the wild just fine. We have many domestic cats gone wild in the cities and suburbs. Pigs that were brought to the new world for live stock escaped into the wild and actually thrived in America. In fact, they thrived in a big way and actually become 1000 Ib. hogzilla. Many pet fish were flushed down the toilet and thought to be gone not only survive, but thrive. They become so successful that they threaten the native species Just google carps in America. They were never meant to survive in America. they are only native to Asia. So animals and human "grow strong or die" all the time.

That's where compassion kicks in in people who feel for animals. They were not caught from the wild but in the streets and then weakened due to captivity and lack of care, etc. In a nutshell, mostly due to human intervention. And because of that, the more reason for human intervention to save them. It does not even matter if they were caught in the wild. If we have compassion and respect their right to live, we should make sure they are healthy enough before we can release them as is generally practiced by vets in most places of the world.

Obviously if a loving family can be found for a cat, the cat should go to that family.

However, we're talking about 1000 cats and what, a dozen volunteers at the most? Clearly, that number of cats will overwhelm the capacity of any animal shelter, and inevitably result in a large number of them being euthanized. It is pretty unrealistic to think that the average animal shelter has the funding to nurse 1000 cats back to health.

Furthermore, releasing 1000 healthy cats into the wild is a recipe for disaster. They would quickly wipe out local wildlife such as birds and rodents. On the other hand, if most of those cats are too weak to survive in the wild, they will simply become food for wildlife while only a small number of strong cats survive. Thus the natural balance would be retained.

IMO, it all depends on whether a certain species has lived in a particular area before. What I mean is is this animal has lived in an area before, then it mostly has a natural predator. If that is the case, then it would be OK to release them into the wild since their natural predator will keep them in check. However, if you have an animal that is not native in the land, releasing it into the wild would a BAD idea. Without any natural predator to keep it in check, it will overwhelm the native species.

Yes, the correct term is a bomb containment vessel. It is used mainly for the transportation of explosive devices for further study and/or to move to a safer location if necessary or obviously can be used to contain the explosion.

Siege artillery is heavy artillery primarily used in military attacks on fortified places. At the time of the American Civil War, the U.S. Army classified its artillery into three types, depending on the gun's weight and intended use. Field artillery were light pieces that often traveled with the armies. Siege and garrison artillery were heavy pieces that could be used either in attacking or defending fortified places. Seacoast artillery were the heaviest pieces and were intended to be used in permanent fortifications along the seaboard.
