Wang Gengxiang and his classmates celebrate his return to Mijiazhuang Kindergarten on March 27. [Xinhua]

First came the fire - a blaze of wood and straw that claimed four of his fingers and severely disfigured his face.

Most of the skin on 6-year-old Wang Gengxiang's head was burned off, requiring him to wear a full surgical mask as protection against the sun and infections that could have slammed the brakes on his recovery.

Then doctors said that they could not complete the skin-graft surgery until his damaged trachea, or windpipe, was strong enough, according to local media reports. Xiangxiang was not allowed to attend classes at the kindergarten he loved out of fears for his personal safety and concerns about how his presence might affect other children there, according to his father. He was only allowed into the kindergarten to play during media visits.

Because his family has little money, he has received help for his recovery from many people in different walks of life. Mijiazhuang Kindergarten in Fenyang, Shanxi province, has accepted him back with a discount in fees, and this month young Xiangxiang now 7, is back in the classroom, to the delight of his family and friends.

In a photograph taken on April 7, 2012, people gather to inspect dogs up for adoption during an animal rights awareness event in Beijing. China still has a shoddy record on animal rights, with little animal welfare legislation, many zoos are poorly run and animal parts are traded for use in traditional medicine, but in recent years, activists have criticized government-ordered mass killing of dogs during rabies outbreaks, protested outside government offices against the slaughter of cats for food, and urged China to phase out bear farms where bile is harvested for traditional medicine.

LOL...does it includes the two models with that car?

LOL if they had stuck with tradition of the MG roadsters of the past, there would only be room for one model.

Theres nothing to distinguish it from the Hyundi suzuki Nissans Chery etc

Actually I would have like to see them use that MG tradition and build a car to compete with the Mazda Miata/Mx5 and variants

M Lee's must be well connected down there with the Chinese and other Asian communities down there? What were some of here mistakes (just curious)?

Melinda lee obtained a high public profile because she co- hosted A TV programn called "Asia Down Under" She was quite attractive in those days.Shes lazy, doesn't take the trouble to get a full understanding of the topics being discussed, so she gets showed up during the debates. Opens her mouth before engaging her brain. On that basis I cant see her ever being given a cabinet post with a position truly representing the needs of Asians like the previous Pansy Wong had.

Shes not an elected M.P.shes a "List MP" Nz has a system of elected MP's and a List of people who are given a party ranking from one to whatever ( eg 60) THey get into parliament on the strength of the % votes won by the party.

Careful where you put those hands .. young fella

, on Tuesday.

The Regulation on School Bus Safety Management was signed by Premier Wen Jiabao as a state decree on April 5.

The regulation asks local governments to ensure that students attend nearby schools or boarding schools so as to "reduce students' traffic risks."

Local governments are also obliged to develop urban and rural public transit options so students will be able to commute more conveniently.

For rural areas that cannot ensure nearby schooling or convenient public transport to schools, measures should be taken to ensure students' access to school buses.

TEHRAN, April 6 (Xinhua) -- All 28 Chinese crew members aboard a China-linked cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates were rescued on Friday, the Chinese embassy in Tehran said.

The cargo ship, Xianghuamen, was hijacked by Somali pirates at about 8:40 a.m. local time (0410 GMT) on Friday in the Sea of Oman near Iran's southern port of Chabahar.

The Sea of Oman is connected to the Gulf in the west by the Strait of Hormuz, one of the crucial waterways in the world for shipping crude oil.

The vessel, registered in Panama, belongs to Nanjing Ocean Shipping company in eastern China.

The cargo ship, setting off from Shanghai, made a stopover in Singapore to unload some goods and then headed for Imam Khomeini port in southwestern Iran when it was hijacked.

Nine Somali pirates climbed onto the cargo ship by their own ladders, fired shots on the ship and seized the Chinese crew members on board.

Two Iranian naval warships participating in the rescue operation followed the vessel and ordered the pirates to surrender. The pirates later threw their weapons into the sea and surrendered to the Iranian navy.

The hijacked cargo ship's engine was damaged and is in repair. Later the ship will head for the Iranian port of Gask, 70 miles ( about 112 km) away from where the hijacking occurred and 200 miles (about 322 km) away from the vessel's destination.

After the hijacking, the Chinese embassy in Tehran started emergency procedures and contacted related Iranian governmental departments, urging the Iranian side to take all necessary measures and spare no efforts to rescue the crew members and ensure their safety.

Yu Hongyang, the Chinese ambassador, requested Iran to put the safety of the hijacked crew members as the first priority, adding that the Chinese government, State Council and Foreign Ministry all expressed grave concerns about the incident.
