^^^..and Zero championships....Z-E-R-O...case closed. It's all about the ring.

He was a great player..never said he wasn't..he's just ...errr never mind.

True, but there are a number a of great NBA players that had retired and never won a championship. John Stockton, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Sean Kemp, Chris Weber and Patrick Ewing. To me sure the ring is great, but if you want to compare individual accomplishment that's hall of fame qualify, than one has to look past the ring. It's the whole team gets the ring, even the bench players.

Equation, As an NBA fan I feel that Yao gave up after his major injuries & marriage. I doubt if his lovely wife wanted to live in the US. Also is heart was not with the Rockets. And for a big man I felt he was "soft". Just my opinion. Can you say Over-rated!?

Why do you think Yao didnt really want to play for the Rockets. ?

Ive always felt that the Chinese, no mater what team sport it was, disliked the physical stuff. I use to watch China and NZ play against each other in basketball and soccer prior to the "Worlds". China man for man was by far the more skillful team, and on more than one occassion we beat China by paying a more physical game withe the deliberate elbow in the face, made to look unintentional, that sorta thing.WE put them off their game and we invaribly won.
I havent followed them in recent times so I dont know whether they have toughened up.

LOL...tell that to the Georgetown Hoyas team that got their butts handed to them when they scuffled with the Bayi Rockets in a "friendly" game in which an unexpected fist fight that unfortunately occurred once in awhile in every team sport. I've seen many of videos online and one can make their own judgement on it. It's not the passive weakling Asian men as people over here usually perceived doesn't it?

The game has grown more physical lately and its a natural occurrences in a contact sport like basketball. The problem I have is that the game is too dependent on loose rules that doesn't apply to some players. I mean if you ever watch Shaq getting hacked and physically abuse down the low post and not get as many calls as he should (yes he is a beast to move, but still can't blame him for it).

Ya mean the Hoya's got decked? They are learning

I didnt think basket is a contact sport in the strictest meaning of the game.

I dont that people thought the Chinese teams are weak ,because rough play wasn't in their game plan.

Pretty much. Good teams will know how to adjust to the flow of the game (whether how the officials are calling fouls and how rough the opponent teams are) and exploit the strength and weaknesses of the opposing team.
