Good news if this is formalised. Well done to the Wukan residents for not being bullied into submitting.

I wonder how much his back-down was driven by Wang Yang. There has been commentary drawing attention to his battle with Bo Xiliai over promotion in the coming years. He had to resolve this issue quickly so that his reputation wouldn't be damaged too much, though I wonder if he waited a bit too long to have his subordinates negotiate directly.

Great you gave us the link where we have to register (for free) just to get in. Meanwhile after registering, they can send male wares and advertisements to us through our emails compromising our privacy. So much for that 'democracy'.

Now if only OWS wouldn't back down any further and they're planning on a comeback in Spring with more protest...er I mean 'REVOLT'. You think we'll be able to see this kind of govt. to people transactions like the one in China?

Not many, but your vote counts in the the U.S. In China there is nothing you can do once the government makes certain arbitrary decisions.

The flip side being, what exactly would you (as in, the voters) know about running a country? There are things to be said for a government that is able to make decisions without being held hostage to partisan ideologies.

Oh cry me a river. Like the Financial Times is the only website in the world that requires registration. It's a commercial enterprise, not a political system!

You can't compare the Wukan protests/revolt to Occupy Wall Street. The citizens of Wukan were protesting about the sale of their land with no fiscal compensation and the kidnapping of some of their representatives/death of one of their representatives in jail. They weren't attempting to occupy the Shanghai stock market or other private property.

A protest is protest, what difference does it make? You don't think the OWS want's to get rid of the 1%ers and their government buddies that helped them?

"I pity the fool"...who doesn't know about the thousands of local land grabbing and annexations by counties in the US and it's called eminent domain or sometimes involuntary municipal annexation.

"I pity the fool"...who believes in a one size government systems fits all, therefore China must abide by it. Their rise in economic and military power are threatening the democratic system.

Should I even bring on the case against Native American lands and Stephen F. Austin (so called the Father of Texas) illegal settlement in Texas back in the early 1800s?

A commercial enterprise with a political agenda. Next time post something more relevant and don't required registering. Geez I thought you "democratic and civilized" guys and gals should be more responsible than that, but I guess we all know now where part of the root problems came from.

By the way, did you vote yet to get Congress get back to work for their tax payers about the budget crisis?

The thread of "The Occupy USA movement." was closed. But this bashing China thread is still active. How come? Maybe china should serious consider establish funds to support "NGOs" to start riots in western countries and condemn their abysmal status of human rights. Then china should mobilize PLA air force to bomb those evil countries in order to save their people. Maybe in one decade we will see this change of policy.

More posts like the above will get this thread closed.

This has been a rare opportunity to discuss politics on the board. I do not see why people are annoyed by it. I believe this thread has stayed open this long because people have so far been mature about the subject. Had some used this as an opportunity to country bash or be crude and offensive, I am sure the mods would have locked this down.

So I would view this threads continued existence as a positive for this forum instead of grumbling about it, but that's just me.
