Yep, I've seen it. That was back in July though. any recent change after that?

For example, is it still waiting for AEP400/500 just like KJ-600 & the Y-9 derivatives/ Y-30? And considering we did have cropped/blurry photos of MA700 that flew quite some time ago, what's the engine for that flying prototype?

Was it the P&W PW150C that was later denied by Canada?

yes. that's right. MA700 took three known flights so far. but with blurry photos so we can't guess, what Engines they have used. but i believe they have used WJ-6C for first flight after sanctions.

AEP-400 is likely the designated Engine.. as you just liked one of my post on Engine thread. Engine entered in material selection stage early last year.. will take additional 14-18 months for civil aviation certification.

the good news is, project is not dead. AVIC Xian is working on it.

So they're back to the "Immortal" WJ-6C huh? I thought they managed to buy some PW150C before it got fully banned like WZ-10's early P&W Canada engines.

Another question though, with all the delays, is the target market for MA700 still viable? It seems like most operators either already have the ATR 72 / Dash-8, or they just went woth regional jets.

i tried to get information regarding Engine but failed.. so this is just the pure guess. it could have PW150C or WJ-6C for test flight. as far as i remember, XAC applied for Engine in 2018 but got denied by the Canadian government in 2020. two years wasted here.

MA700 had another major problem. extensive reliance on western suppliers for critical components other than Engine.

what we have seen today, most likely with all indigenous components/parts. for AG-600 AVIC has to develop all related avionics , sensors and electronics.. this AG-600 project greatly helped MA700 in indigenous avionics like glass cockpit.

MA700 is to replace older MA60/MA600 series and target regional aviation and this airliner is suited for small island nations. Russia has too great demand for this type of aircraft.

The only thing of the MA700 made in China was the airframe. So they had an empty tube. But it's not like Xian cannot make airplanes without any imported components. Their military aircraft are just that.

As for the Dash-8 you had the mess of the Bombardier collapse. The ATR-72 is pretty much obsolete at this point. It is just it has no viable competition. The Russian Il-114 has way more modern engines with lower fuel consumption. If they can get them to work reliably.

No PW150C engines were ever delivered. The engine was specifically modified for China, and the Canadian government banned export right before the engines were about to leave the factory to be delivered.
