What is CXF?
CXF is not an official abbreviated term used by COMAC. In fact they have never used such term.

It is netizens' or forum members' own creation. My personal understanding is it refers to COMAC Xin Fei, but the originator of this abbreviated term may mean something else.

My personal understanding is Xin Fei or 新飞 means New Fly/Flight/Aircraft which could be construed as a New variant of Aircraft ( i.e. C919 with CJ-1000A engine and other domestic parts).

Is this from COMAC's official portal or official statement? Or from some other writers/media.

I appreciate if you can provide the source. I need to know what exactly CXF means.

Another one from the official Institute of Measurement and Control account under AVIC not to mention all the tenders posted for CXF are actually all labeled "CXF". CXF likely doesn't stand for anything, it literally is just a project branding, if you must know the Chinese name for the project was allegedly "机载设备增强计划" which doesn't seem to actually abbreviate to CXF in english. Anyhow despite the naming it's basically just a fully domestic and possibly improved C919 variant.

Excuse me for being lazy, but Deep Seek is reasonably more credible than all other Western AI in regard to Chinese technical news, thus I used its reply.

"There are two key points in the conversation you shared that are worth noting:

  1. Usage in tender documents: The other person mentioned that "all the tenders posted for CXF are actually all labeled 'CXF'" — this information is accurate. In a tender announcement from a subsidiary of AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation of China), the "CXF Project" was indeed explicitly mentioned.
  2. Naming conventions: Official documents typically list the full project name and its code name separately. In that tender announcement, the project code "CXF" was simply referred to as the "CXF Project," without expanding on what the letters actually stand for.
Additionally, search results show that "CXF" appears in other completely unrelated fields as well — for example, the "CXF-series magnetic levitation molecular pumps" produced by KYKY Technology. This further suggests that the letter combination "CXF" itself is not an exclusive official abbreviation for any particular aviation project; it's common for different projects to use internal code names like this.

Therefore, while "CFX" (or "CXF") does appear in documents with an "official" background, it is used as a code name or brand identifier for a specific project, rather than a formal abbreviation that can be literally expanded into a full Chinese name (such as "机载设备增强计划" — Airborne Equipment Enhancement Plan).
On this point, your view — that it is "not an official formal abbreviation" — is consistent with the evidence."
