Those futuristic passenger capable drones look more promising than this Avro Car resurrection idea. First off, the military applications are limited due to armament issues (you gotta keep the bottom for lift fans) and as a transporter, there's not much room either unless they expand that "cockpit". Probably won't be cheaper than those passenger drones already being prototyped in China.

China has the biggest network of high speed trains, some 30,000 kilometers. These trains can travel at 350 kmph. Do we need all those planes for 2000 to 4000 kilometers journeys ?

What? The largest plane got 16 seats in a row, obviously for economy... So it's meant to fly Transocean across Pacific.

(XAC) has delivered two high-performance Xinzhou-60 aircraft for remote sensing to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for aerial observation missions. Ding Yaxiu, chief designer of the aircraft, said the aerial observation aircraft is adapted from the Xinzhou-60 aircraft developed by the company to better address the demand of carrying different functional equipment for diversified observation purposes.
