Chinese air to air missiles

Launching a PL-15. The missile separates first, then its motor fires.
First time we’ve seen this being launched by J-16. Earlier we’ve seen J-20 firing one but it was so blurry.
Can anyone tell me which part of PL-15E can these debris belong to could it be a part of second stage or first stage ?
This debris was found in Hoshiarpur, Punjab ,India. Almost 100km away from Pakistani boarder.

That article doesn't really say anything which we couldn't already surmise ourselves tbh.
The author seems to be just a PhD in defense policy rather than technology/science.
I’m just surprised at the sudden change in sentiment. Guess Pentagon will have legit excuse to hike spending once more.
Even in thinktank land it's been generally accepted for the last few years that PL-15 is formidable and modern PLA fighter aircraft are credible.
Pentagon has respected PL-15 for many years now.
Seeing it in action is different from reading about vague hypotheticals.
