Interesting new modification on the commander cupola, seems like an upgrade for day use with larger periscopes but a downgrade for night use as it doesn’t seem to be compatible with more advanced optics, I wonder what was the reason for that. Also seems to be a batch of new builds with the factory finish without camo.

These are not standard Type 96s. They are a special variant modified for the International Army Games, with more powerful engines and other changes. They will never see service.
