WS-20 is the same engine its model has been showed as SF-A.

You are correct, there are three major high bypass ratio engine projects going on.

1. Leap-X1C domestic assembly, cooperation with CFMI, primary engine for C919.

2. CJ1000A, designed with MTU, secondary engine for C919.

3. WS20, formerly known as SF-A, developed from WS10A (CFM56 core), primary engine for Y20, former backup engine of C919.

Actually, WS-20 has always been WS-20. SF-A was the civilian version of WS-20 intended for C919, but that plan was subsequently canceled because the engine would not be competitive.

The longer range of 9,000KM - 9,600KM is done with 2 refuelings as stated in the illustrations.

It will serve PLAAF within the country just nicely with its flight range on internal fuel alone, coveing entire nation from North-South (Harbin to Guangzhou) and East-West (Shanghai to Lhasa).
