WS20 is by all accounts a CFM56 class engine.

It's still to be seen if this "Y-20" can surpass Il-76, but if they could, and budget permits, then China can freely expand its air mobility capability without the current constraints that is Russia's production capacity and willingness to sell them at China's terms.

With existence of Y20 maybe Russia will be more motivated to sell and more importantly quickly deliver IL476, after all Y20 is still a good three to four years away from service, meanwhile the heavy lift needs will be made by purchasing second hand IL76s or new IL476s.

Well, PLA's MBT can't fit into a IL476.
Besides, what PLA like about old IL76 is it's cheap and proven, IL476 is neither.

Y-20 fuselage is base on AN-70,according to Antonov China decide to opt for TF over not yet proven T-prop .original Chinese side also seeking blue print for AN-125 heavy lifter but rejected by Antonov.
possible for a enlarge Y-20 in the future.
