Always assumed it was some sort of night vision camera for night landings.Out of curiosity, what is the sensor right above the radome?. MAWS or some sort of FLIR for the huds?

Google Earth satellite photo dated 2024 October 01 shows 14 black painted Y20, and 2 yellow skin Y20 at the Xi'an AVIC factory premises. Also present were 3 H6(K/J?).

3rd image of the 2nd tweet:Here in higher-resolution (12 MB) and unfortunately (IMO) only the two yellow ones are Y-20B!
maybe .. but these are definitely different engines..
The row of 3 appear to have bigger engines than the row of 2.

agreed with you except that ''cost'' point.. China has completely different scale of industry/supply chain and respective tools so we cannot compare with Russia.. there is no doubt High bypass ratio engine is costly to manufacture as compared to low bypass but there is huge Y-20 demand and Shenyang engine institute putting record revenue numbers.. 2022/23 sales were all time high. They certainly seem to be taking their own sweet time with the WS-20 engine.
It is the first high bypass ratio turbofan China makes, so it is normal that there are delays.
Also, I would have to say that in Russia it was difficult for them to replace the D-30 engine with the PS-90 in the Il-76. The D-30 engine is so much cheaper to manufacture that it makes the fuel savings kinda pointless.
