For flying boom refuelling perhaps?
That's what some people in Weibo wondered about. But it's not clear.

But here only 'fuel pump' is mentioned. So many other technologies are required for a flying boom ( aerodynamics of the boom tube, its control, boom operator compartment and console etc). Only a pump is mentioned so it could be just for the probe-drogue system?

That lamp is really fascinating. The hard tube technology is only verified on a certain platform, and the Y20 of the two engines has no hard tube, and there is no hard tube oil port on any model, so install it first. I can’t figure out the meaning of a lamp.

'hard tube' probably means Boom tube. There seem to be something just in front of the wing box, what this person identifies as a lamp or light.
A pair of Y20B for reference (huitong)

I imagine that these planes are being gradually replaced.

At least not yet, since the PLAN - in fact they are not PLAAF HU-6 but PLAN H-6DU - does not operate Y-20s yet and therefore at least now they won't operate Y-20U tanker.
