If Germany have 10000 to evacuate, can you imagine how many the USA and UK have to evacuate?

And if the Kabul airport runways are overrun with people, any evacuation is going to take weeks and weeks


Merkel told party colleagues earlier that Germany must evacuate up to 10,000 people - including local support staff for its discontinued Germany still to evacuate 10000

Interesting that cgtn published this opinion last month, usually China is very cautious about that border crossing due to the ETIM and drug trade risks. China steadfastly refused to open it in the past. Maybe they have something else in mind now that the tide has shifted? It will certainly be good for development, and might serve to augment the CPEC

Why the hurry to evacuate German/American nationals. The Taliban won’t kill them or take them captive. They primarily have beef with segments of the Afghan government.

Displacement activity (if we frantically do busy work, we might not look like complete fools with our thumbs up our own arses!); distracting and reassuring the public (don’t look at desperate Afghans falling off airplanes and getting trampled, look at our brave soldiers rescuing your fellow countrymen and be grateful you live in such a great country!); and golden parachute (we are not fleeing Afghanistan after the Americans, we are escorting civilians out!).
