A Long March-4C carrier rocket carrying two new satellites blasted off from northwest China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 4:22 p.m. (Beijing Time) on Monday.

Having entered the planned orbit, the satellite duo – Shiyan-20 B/C – will be used for space environmental monitoring and conducting in-orbit verification of other technologies.

The launch was the 454th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

That's a very interesting mission patch. I've noticed the Shiyan and Shijian experimental satellites all have really vivid mission patches with symbolic meanings:

Shiyan-13 from start of the year. Rumored to be PLARF satellite for calibration of air defense and missile defense radars. Patch depicts stone lions placed at the gates of traditional Chinese houses to ward away evil spirits.

Shijian-21, orbital debrid clean up craft equipped with net and a co-orbiting and maneuverable sub-satellite. Patch depicts

, Chinese folklore god casting a net with his pet celestial dog

If I were to guess, Shiyan-20 B/C must be testing some new sensor tech. Sun Wukong is known for his "fire eyes" capable of seeing through demon disguises as well as able to see great distances. Both Wukong depicted on the patch are doing the stereotypical "shading his eyes from the sun" pose that is used to indicate he's using his fire eyes.
