Sorry, I relayed the 100-meter figure from some web site without thinking much. The new telescope might be only 10 meters in diameter; I doubt the robotic arm will be long enough to build a 100-meter scope.

The robotic arm is designed to be detachable and mobile. A larger telescope can still be built as long as the telescope itself is designed to have an attachable base.

100M would be ground breaking ESO had a concept called OWL it was absolutely massive
