A lander that is not proven. Russia hasn't been able to orbit the moon since fall of USSR. They can't even send a probe to orbit moon let alone Mars. I'll believe it when I see they land on Mars.
Russia/USSR already had blueprints for Lunar lab modules and the means to make them, Zvezda moonbase and LEK were cancelled due to political reasons
The LK lander was infact considered to be a superior design by NASA engineers who had the chance to see it firsthand after Soviet dissolution, China even bought the propulsion module's blueprints. The real issue is money and lack of political will
Basically, Russia must endure 100 years of humiliation due to defeat of Cold War. They cannot have the political will anytime soon.

There is nothing truer than what he is saying. Defeat is hard and bad. It is not something you can talk your way out of. Let it be a reminder for all countries in the world. Remember the hordes of fools in Russia who cheered on and celebrated the fall of their own nation. They had the idiocy to blindly believe that whatever coming afterwards is necessarily better.

All countries suffer humiliation after defeat. Germany lost land in WW1 and WW2. Austria lost land in WW1. Turkey lost land in WW1. Japan lost land in WW2. Spain lost land to US and Britain. Russia lost land to Japan. China lost land to Britain and Japan. Russia lost land after losing Cold War. Turkey had to suffer 100 years of humiliation until 2023 when Erdogan changes constitution with a supposed Lausanne treaty expiration. Japan can't change constitution until 2045 100 years after defeat in WW2. Heck, even China suffered 100 years of humiliation after defeat by Britain at Opium war in 1841. It wasn't until 1949 when Mao said zhong guo ren min zhang qi lai le.
