Testing onboard engines for the Chang-e 5 spacecraft. These engines are used for orbital maneuvers, landing, and return to Earth. The last image shows the signatures of the development team of the spacecraft.

And here's the Chang-e 5 spacecraft itself.

These last two images explain the process by which the spacecraft returns samples to earth. Chang'e 5 spacecraft has four parts: ascent stage, lander, return module, and the orbiter.

1) The ascent stage/lander separate from the return module/orbiter in the moon's orbit.
2) The ascent stage/lander lands on the Moon surface.
3) After samples are gathered and stored on the ascent stage, the ascent stage takes off for the return module/orbiter, which are orbiting the moon; the lander is left behind permanently on the Moon surface.
4) The ascent stage performs in-orbit remote docking with the return module/orbiter and transfers the samples to the return module.
5) The return module separates from the orbiter and returns to Earth.

i-Space has successfully completed testing on the telescoping struts intended for the Hyperbola-II reusable rocket. These struts are crucial for the operation of the landing legs on the recoverable stage. The second image shows the location of the struts.

I wonder if it would be illegal for NASA to receive data as well. Most likely they'll have to get it from a third party.
It just bugs the hell out of me that America and the European Space Agency have been showing us the cold shoulder for decades now, blocking us out from collaborating with space projects... And yet they keep dissing our efforts and expect/demand that we share our exploits when we go at it alone :mad:

中国探月工程总设计师吴伟仁提到嫦娥五号方案论证时“实际上,如果只是为了完成采样返回任务,嫦娥五号的系统可以做得简单很多。但考虑到未来的载人登月需求,我们确定了目前的方案,目的在于进行更多的技术验证”

Wu Weiren, the chief designer of the Chinese lunar exploration project, mentioned the Chang'e 5 plan, "In fact, if just complete the sampling and return mission, the Chang'e 5 system can be made much simpler. But considering the requirement of manned moon landing in the future, We made the current design to do more technical verifications"

We have to treat US and EU differently. EU acted badly in case of Galileo program, but EU provided deep space tracking in Chang'e program, from Chang'e 1 to 3. Here is the source from National Natural Science Foundation of China.

It also provided tracking this time. So sharing with EU is natural return of favor.

US is totally another story.
