Now I see why you asked.Strange, I sure I watched Chinese rockets launched like this nz one where ignition is requested at the 4 count. I have a friend on the design team based in Auckland who gave me the reason why but that was at a wedding party and i had too much to drink to remember.
When you asked "This launch seems different to previous launches where you get ignition before the countdown finishes." I interpreted the previous as previous CZ-5. But you seem to mean other CZ rockets than CZ-5.
Yes, CZ-5's ignition sequence is different from CZ-2,3,4 and CZ-7. I remember reading that other people asked the same question about the difference. The reason as I remember was due to the usage of LH/LOX first stage and syncing of all engines' thrusts (core and booster).
