That's actually a PSed photo meant as an illustration – as admitted by the Weibo poster – because apparently no photographers were allowed for this launch.

:eek::oops:
Dam, I did not realize that this NASASpaceFlight.com site has nothing to do with NASA which I trust would not do such thing as PS.

Another space launch site? wenchang is closer to the equator and its by the sea, so no risk to civilian areas, why do they need another one at shandong?

Also, why does china has 2 launch centers in the north instead of two? if they need a military launch site, why not focus on just one and leave all civilian launches to wenchang?

As for xichang launch center, they should close it. Its dangerous to civilian and natural areas.

Talking from pure presumptions here but I think it's because huge investments in resources and manpower has been flowing to the Xichang center (due to Cold War Era powerplays).

The center will close this decade as less investment is diverted to it and the technology becomes old (old computers and equipments etc).

There's been a lot of work on space vehicles. There may be many different variants and launching methods for different space vehicles.

From 2019.

So there have been many tests. There were other links for various tests on this forum from years ago. Surprised they are still doing preliminary tests but my understanding is this LM-2 launched vehicle is yet another type designed for LM series delivery.

Most of these are expected to be anti-satellite in capability and probably also some could be designed to serve as emergency satellite replacements if Chinese observation satellites are destroyed in war.
