"One U.S. service member and three defense contractors were killed Thursday when a plane contracted by the U.S. military crashed in a rice field in the southern Philippines, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said.
The aircraft was conducting a routine mission “providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support at the request of our Philippine allies," the command said in a statement. It said the cause of the crash was under investigation."

You can be sure the US will be the first to jump out and claim the crash had nothing to do with China ;)

The Beechcraft in question crashed in a part of the Philippines with a significant Muslim population and a history of Muslim insurgencies.

In all seriousness, it was most likely conducting ISR operations in support of one SOCOM task force or another when it was lost. Probably something with a CT mission set.

BEIJING, Feb. 5 -- The Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command conducted a routine patrol in the waters of South China Sea on February 5, said Air Force Senior Colonel Tian Junli, spokesperson for the PLA Southern Theater Command (STC) in a written statement on Wednesday.
The spokesperson pointed out that the Philippines has been colluding with countries outside the region to organize the so-called "joint patrols" in an attempt to destabilize the South China Sea and endorse its illegal claims in the South China Sea, which undermines China’s legitimate maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea.
The theater command will remain on high alert to resolutely defend China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. Any military activities that disrupt the South China Sea are fully under control, stressed the spokesperson.

Another form of extortion, this Senator is a political butterfly, he had not legislate anything for the past 5 years and known to curry political favors for self interest. From Yellow (Pinoy) to Blue (Duterte) to Red (Marcos), this guy had NO SHAME and he is running for re election this May joining the Administration ticket.
