That can be me bro, its back to Elder Marcos tactic during Martial law of false accusation and intimidation, its back to traditional politics of Gun, Goons and Gold.

Its quite a disturbing development since such actions can escalate to profiling and the normalization of general racism towards Chinoys. This is despite the fact that a significant portion of the PH economic growth is due to the contribution of Chinese Filipinos.

Even more concerning, is that it seems the majority of Chinese Filipinos are in a state of disunity, I don't see any powerful Chinese Filipino lobby group in the PH that can apply its influence on the government to stop Sinophobic actions such as this incident.

What are your thoughts on this? Will there ever be a time when Chinese Filipinos will push for their rights and have their voices heard? Its just frustrating to see how the current PH government is resorting to Sinophobic tactics to push its destructive agenda, which is most likely encouraged by the US.

It's a double edge sword bro, Chinoy had benefit hugely from the current set up cause we know how to create wealth. The oligarchs or the landed gentry who are mostly rent seekers don't. So we had to thread carefully and like a Bamboo knows where the wind blows. The new generation of Chinoy who had entered politics are corrupted by the systems, they were co opted, like the Chinese Mestisos, it is easy to legislate your way to prosperity unlike their forefathers before who believed in hard work.

PH has declared that the US needs them (perhaps as another disposable cannon fodder?) amid a change in leadership in Washington

PH is still in hot pursuit of the alleged Chinese sea drones in its waters, this time PH claims to have discovered another sea drone near the waters off Bohol island.

Still no reaction or condemnation from the PH side (Or its so-called ally the US who claims to be very concerned about PH national security) about the latest murder of its troops in the southern Philippines by Islamic Terrorists.

Its important to mention that the perpetrators of the ambush are members of the MILF, an Islamic Terrorist organization with whom the PH government signed a peace treaty in exchange for handing over control of the PH Muslim majority provinces to the Islamic Terrorist group's leadership. Part of the peace deal was the "Decommissioning" of the MILF firearms and its armed groups.

After 5 years since the peace deal was signed, we can see how this Decommissioning of arms is progressing smoothly.
The PH leadership is a bunch of fools for trying to provoke China when it can't even deal with local Terrorist groups.
Even worse, it turns out the US had backed this Terrorist group:

No wonder American propagandists like Ray Powell who are very vocal about the perceived security threats by China in Southeast Asia have Nothing to say when Islamic Terrorists kill people.

"AFP: The new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a call yesterday with his Philippines counterpart Enrique Manalo. A State Department spokesperson said that Rubio underscored the United States’ ironclad commitments to the Philippines under the countries’ mutual defense treaty and that the two also discussed Beijing’s “dangerous and destabilizing actions in the South China Sea.” Does the Foreign Ministry have a reaction to this call?

Mao Ning: China’s activities in relevant waters are legitimate, lawful, and fully justified. The US is not a party to the South China Sea issue and has no right to interfere in the maritime issues between China and the Philippines. The military cooperation between the US and the Philippines should not undermine China’s sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea, still less should such cooperation support or advance the Philippines’ illegal claims. China will continue to take necessary steps to firmly safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests and uphold peace and stability in the South China Sea."

Philippines to pick venue soon for second South China Sea case against Beijing

  • Philippines accuses China of destruction of marine environment
  • 'The sins are so obvious', justice minister says
  • Philippines won landmark case against China in 2016
  • China has rejects allegation of destruction
MANILA, Jan 23 (Reuters) - The Philippines will soon decide on an international platform to sue China for alleged damage to the marine environment, its justice minister said, as it pursues a second high-profile legal challenge against Beijing over the South China Sea.
The Philippines won a landmark case at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in 2016 that found China's sweeping claim of sovereignty in the South China Sea had no basis under international law. It now wants to hold Beijing accountable for what it says is its harvesting of giant clams and substantial environmental damage to coral reefs in the Philippines' exclusive economic zone.
"We're in discussion and the decision has to come very soon," Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla said, referring to which legal forum to file the case.
"The sins are really so obvious," he said. "In the end, this is the best way to attack. There are many ways of solving a problem, but this is one of the most novel ways."
China was incensed by the 2016 arbitration case and has refused to recognise it, doubling down on its efforts to assert its sovereignty claim with an armada of coast guard and fishing militia, hundreds of kilometres off its mainland.
The Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Court of Justice are among several possible venues Philippine officials have identified in

for the second case.
Remulla stressed the urgency of the case and said the government was hoping to file it this year, underscoring the need to firm up its legal strategy.

"This is a civil case. We look for damages. We want to be awarded damages for that," he said. "This is all due yesterday."
The Philippines alleges Chinese activities, including dredging, coral harvesting, and the construction of artificial islands, have caused significant and irreversible damage to coral reefs and marine biodiversity. China has accused the Philippines of causing damage to the Second Thomas Shoal by intentionally grounding a warship there in 1999.

I'm not sure what the US is doing, but it sure doesn't look like the Pinoys want to back down. We'll get another show of force in the SCS by the PLAN soon.

Beijing should be happy about this. Trading practical wins (like bases) for symbolic wins (like lawsuits) is a good deal every day of the week.

There is of course a time and a place for symbolic wins, but they don't change the facts on the ground.

"[...]Indo-Pacific Command (IndoPacom), which is responsible for US military operations in the region, confirmed that the Typhons have been “relocated within the Philippines.” However, both IndoPacom and the Philippine government have refrained from disclosing the new location of these missile batteries.

Commander Matthew Comer of IndoPacom mentioned that the US government has closely coordinated with Philippine authorities regarding all aspects of the Mid-Range Capability (MRC) deployment, including its location.

He clarified that this relocation does not imply that the Typhon systems will remain permanently stationed in the Philippines.[...] "

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday rejected China’s call to the Philippines to pull out the United States-made mid-range capability (MRC) missile system also known as Typhon missile launcher in the country.

In confirming that the missile launcher was relocated to another site, AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla noted the transfer of the asset was part of the military’s training aspects on mobilization and logistics. [...]"
