China's SCS Strategy Thread

Let me get this straight. Filipinos gifted military bases to the United States, let white Americans molest and rape their girls and boys, kicked out Chinese BRI investment, never received a dime from the USG in terms of aid and development and now these white Americans are just gonna stand by whilst Filipino soldiers get the shit kicked out of them alongside losing military equipment?

There is a reason why the Philippines went from the second highest GDP in Asia after WWII to where it is now. Philippines' HDI is much lower than that of North Korea's.

The funniest part about this is the US's response. Ray Powell's (the US "retired" military commander directing pinoys to fight China in the SCS) twitter is hilarious.

First, he pretends to act stupid.

Then, he says it was "very, very bad".

Finally, he explains what the US Philippine Mutual Defense Treaty is and how it doesn't apply here.

Sorry Pinoys, people in Taiwan are too high IQ to be cannon fodder.
I've been saying it in this forum MDT doesn't cover the Spratly island or the islet in the SCS. Heck even when Malaysia invade Jolo or Basilan the American will not intervene, for them the Mainland Luzon, the Visayas and of Mindanao constitute the Philippine, those peripheries doesn't count.

Seems most likely all the other RHIBs meekly surrendered and followed Chinese instructions after they saw what happened to the first so there wasn’t a need to board them.

The descriptions are deliberately vague, and it’s interesting that a Philippino soldier lost a finger. Makes me wonder if maybe some sort of roped harpoon was used to hook the RHIB and reel it in. That makes a lot more sense then trying to chase down fast and nimble RHIBs, and also explains how firearms were seized. Because if they just chased the RHIB down and rammed it, it’s more likely that all the guns would have been lost as everyone and everything would have gone overboard. A high speed ramming is also far more likely to result in serious injury and deaths, which China would like to avoid if possible at this early stage.

That would also explain why the other RHIBs gave up instead of just running away.

We are talking about armed forces here. Official military personnel, and so many were arrested and had their guns seized.

If there was any military officer with some kind of spine in their military, they should be committing sepukku for this huge humiliation lol

Sir when the Philippine Navy SEALS surrender others followed suit cause their role is to give support not to engage. Those SEALS are fully armed therefore it is a major surprise for the higher brass in the AFP that their main SOF (Special Operation Force) can't handle the unarmed Chinese Coast Guard and the Chinese militia. So there is a major rethink cause Ayugin shoal is one of many where the Chinese can escalate and the Philippine may employed their Navy cause the PCG lack the resources. If they do then It will give the Chinese the pretext to removed the ship and occupied the other Philippine control island.

I wonder what instructions/ROE AFP gave to the captured personnel, was it play bumper boats, record with your phone or actually shoot if attacked and they didn't actually carry it out?

I wonder how they managed to puncture RHIBs without using guns? Maybe some kind of specialized crossbow? Seems unlikely they could've boarded anyone without any deaths if guns were in play.

I'd love to see footage of this but unfortunately it's being kept quiet.
Probably tow them and then shoot the boat once the crew is arrested. Philippines side might have guns but they're not gonna use them if the Chinese side holds them at gunpoint.

If a CCG ship rams them, there wouldn't be captured boats and probably several AFP would die on the impact or from being swept under the ship.

Here is more detailed account of what happened.

Looks like the finger was caught in between boats during the collision.

According to the source, the rotation and resupply (RORE) mission involved six Philippine vessels tasked with delivering supplies to the BRP Sierra Madre outpost on Ayungin Shoal.

None of the Philippine vessels managed to reach Ayungin Shoal due to the interception. Chinese forces reportedly targeted all the mission vessels, including rigid-hulled inflatable boats (RHIBs), puncturing them and rendering them immobile.

Chinese forces also confiscated eight weapons from Filipino troops aboard one of the RHIBs they boarded.

“Many of the troops were injured, including one NAVSOG soldier, naputol ang daliri because of this. Yong RHIB ng Pinas binutas butas ng China. Some, eight to be exact, weapons were confiscated by China,” the source said.

“Sumampa ang Chinese sa vessel ng Pinas, then agawan [ng] baril then binunggo, kaya na out of balance ang tropa kaya naipit at naputol [ang daliri],” the source said. Aside from the NAVSOG who was “severely injured,” seven also sustained injuries.

Another AFP vessel, referred to as the “main vessel” by the source, was also rammed and towed after being surrounded by Chinese vessels on all sides and taken far away to hinder rescue efforts.

The area was secured around 4 p.m. yesterday, June 17, stated the source. While some personnel returned, others remained. Plans were made for their return this morning, June 18, but their current status remains unknown.
